Thanksgiving Turkey Drive Fundraiser Raffle

November 1st - 15th 2022

Loisaida Inc. and Assembly Member Harvey Epstein have partnered again with the East Village Independent Merchant's Association (EVIMA) to host another fundraiser raffle! The funds raised from this event will go directly towards purchasing turkeys for the Loisaida Inc. Center's annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, which will take place this year on November 21st, 2022.

During last year's fundraiser we raised $1,541 and were able to assist in purchasing over 500 turkeys for many families and individuals in our community. This year, with food costs rising, we want to give even more and have set a goal of $4000!

From Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 to Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, raffle tickets starting from $1-$20 will be on sale. You can purchase tickets to win any of the 40+ prizes, which total nearly $5,000 in value! Raffle prizes include items and gift cards from local small businesses in the Lower East Side/East Village.

La Cocina de Loisaida is a series of monthly hands-on cooking classes where we celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Puerto Rican cuisine. Longtime Lower East Side resident and local caterer María Bido shares the recipes and techniques passed down by her abuela — all based in authentic Puerto Rican flavors and ingredients from Essex Market.

This series is presented by Loisaida Inc. in partnership with Essex Market, with the collective mission to preserve and pass down culinary heritage from the Lower East Side community. We invite all ages and abilities to join us for these unique, fun, and celebratory cooking classes at Essex Market.

Here's a sneak peak of what you can expect from these classes, now playing on LoisaidaTV!

Barrio Independent Productions returns this year with the successful “Frenzy Fest”, a bilingual theater festival focusing on the social and psychological vulnerabilities of individuals and communities at large.

The Festival will take place with a live audience at El Barrio's Artspace P.S. 109. The public will select the best play and the winner will receive extraordinary prizes!

These plays cover the human mind and "frenzy episodes". Frenzy-Episodes are a kind of mental agitation, violent excitement, emotional breakdown, delirium and/or rage. Each play presents social issues such as drug additions, rape, domestic violence, immigration issues, LGBTT relationships, catastrophic illness, suicide, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD-disorder, bipolarity, and social problems such as poverty or war, that lead the human being to suffer these Frenzy-episodes.
