The event, hosted at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in partnership with Autonation, heard from researchers sharing their insight and progress on finding innovative solutions to preventing and treating cancer.
Moderated by Karin Scarpinato, Ph.D., senior associate vice-president, Division of Research, panelists included:

Sharing STEM-related Journeys

Life Sciences South Florida (LSSF) recently held its fourth annual Women in STEM Brunch at FAU's College of Engineering and Computer Science, on the Boca Raton campus.
The event, hosted in collaboration with Florida International University, featured a panel of four local trailblazing female STEM professionals:
- Stella Batalama, Ph.D., dean, College of Engineering & Computer Science, Florida Atlantic University
- Nicole Cummings, project manager, Aerojet Rocketdyne
- Vidette Pires, vice-president, information technology, Trajector Medical, and executive advisor, FAU Tech Runway
- Jamie Bassos, vice-president, Continuum Autism Spectrum Alliance
Moderated by Karin Scarpinato, Ph.D., senior associate vice president, Division of Research, the panelists shared their personal and professional journeys navigating the male-dominated industry, welcomed questions from the audience, and engaged in break sessions with those who wanted to learn more about their experiences.

The FAU Tech Runway Venture program is now accepting applications for its next cohort. The program provides innovators and entrepreneurs with more than $100,000 in resources and guidance to build and scale startups at any stage.
Applications close on Nov. 20.

Internship Opportunity
FAU's Office of Technology Development has a paid internship opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students interested in learning about the technology transfer process. Interns will gain hands-on experience protecting and commercializing intellectual property and spurring entrepreneurship based on research.
