American Historical Association Honors Faculty, Alumna

In the fall, the American Historical Association (AHA) honored both Joe Trotter Jr., the Giant Eagle University Professor of History and Social Justice, and Jackie Wu (DC, TPR 2022) with awards. Trotter received the John Lewis Award for History and Social Justice, and Wu received the Raymond J. Cunningham Prize.

CMU and Play Included® Bring LEGO® Brick Based Interventions to U.S.

CMU has announced its partnership with a UK social enterprise, Play Included®, to officially launch Project Baseplate. The project will include area K-12 schools and community institutions, including Kody Manke-Miller, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology.

Faculty Spotlight: Sarah Hae-In Idzik

Sarah Hae-In Idzik, assistant professor of rhetoric in the Department of English, focuses her research on the intersection of rhetoric, Asian American/ethnic studies and transnational adoption studies.

  • An Evening with Carnegie Mellon: The New Era of Artificial Intelligence: Join President Jahanian, university leadership and CMU faculty for a discussion of Carnegie Mellon’s inspiring vision for the future and its leadership of a transformational new wave of artificial intelligence applications.   • Join Spring Carnival and Reunion Weekend: Welcome back for a weekend packed full of CMU traditions and events, in particular, our Reunion classes that end in 4 or 9 (i.e. 1974 and 1999) and the first reunion for the Class of 2023. April 12

The Statistics & Data Science Alumni & Department lunch is open to alumni, graduate students and faculty/staff of the Statistics & Data Science community. The event allows alumni and graduate students to reconnect.


The Stephen and Joyce Fienberg Memorial Lecture will begin at 4 p.m. and is open to the entire CMU community. The lecture is a tribute to the late Stephen and Joyce Fienberg for their distinctive contributions to the statistical community. This year's lecturer is Alicia L. Carriquiry, distinguished professor and president's chair, director of the Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence at Iowa State University. A reception in the Rachel Mellon Walton Room will follow the event.


April 13

Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences Brunch & Buggy will begin at 9:30 a.m. A light brunch will be provided as viewers catch up on the races.


The Information Systems 40th Anniversary Celebration is a private event open to alumni and guests of the Information Systems community. Join us to celebrate 40 years of Information Systems graduates at CMU. Registration required. Walk-ins are welcome as space permits. The event begins at noon.


Unveiling the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics say au revoir to 'Modern Languages' and welcome to 'Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics.' It's not just a name; it's a passport to a world of cultural exploration and linguistic innovation.
