On behalf of the McGeorge International Board of Advisors (IBOA), welcome to the inaugural issue of McGeorge International! Through this newsletter, we hope to:
- highlight our alumni engaged in careers around the world;
- create a vehicle for exchanges among alumni and friends of our international programs;
- facilitate communication between the Board and alumni; and
- strengthen ties among international alumni, the Board, and current faculty, staff, and students at McGeorge.
The Board provides advice and assistance to the Dean, the Global Center, the faculty, and students in areas including educational programs, internships, and career pathways. In 2023, the Board created the Action Committee, which is a small group that undertakes specific projects for a two-year term. In 2024, the Action Committee is focusing on establishing this newsletter, fundraising to support LLM students who need assistance, and expanding our international alumni contact list. For more information about the Board, click here. For more information about the Action Committee, including any interest in participating, please contact Iván Morales at imorales@icorpcon.com.
In this first issue, we are featuring three of our impressive international alumni: Gordian Hasselblatt, '95, in Germany; Maggie Baingana Kali, '04, in Rwanda; and Tetiana Shamrai, '11, in Belgium. We would like to highlight three of our alumni in each issue. If you would like to be included in a future issue, or if there is someone whom you would like to see featured, please let us know.
We would also like to remind you of the annual international alumni event, which this year will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from June 7-9, 2024. For more details, please click here.
This year, 2024, is also the 100th anniversary of McGeorge School of Law! There will be many events, including the international alumni meeting, to celebrate this milestone. If you would like to know more about events and activities planned, please click here.
For more information about current international courses, activities, projects and research at McGeorge, please see the Global Center newsletter.
Finally, please let us know if you have ideas, suggestions, or comments for future issues of McGeorge International. We are excited to get to know more of you, to reconnect with many of you, and to learn about your practices and perspectives!
Warm wishes to all for a peaceful and productive new year,
