It brings together various artists from diverse backgrounds, as a way of expanding mutual thought and to provide each other a well intended "Good Luck" as they continue to navigate life in New York City as visual artists at various stages in their professional careers"

- Felix Morelo, Artist & Curator

The exhibition is on view from October 1st through October 29th inside the Loisaida Center and its West Courtyard.

La Cocina de Loisaida: Puerto Rican Vegan Night!

Wednesday, October 5th & Saturday, October 8th

We have two La Cocina de Loisaida classes this month.

On Wednesday, October 5 & Saturday, October 8, we're going Vegan. Community Chef Maria Bido will show you how to make the traditional Puerto Rican dishes that you love so much in a Vegan version. These dishes will have all the flavors that you love in a healthy plant based style.

The class will be approximately 1.5 hours long and include time to savor the dishes you prepare together as a group. La Cocina de Loisaida takes place in the Essex Kitchen — Essex Market's demonstration and teaching kitchen located on the market's mezzanine level.

Register now for a class!

La Cocina de Loisaida is a series of monthly hands-on cooking classes where we celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Puerto Rican cuisine. Longtime Lower East Side resident and local caterer María Bido shares the recipes and techniques passed down by her abuela — all based in authentic Puerto Rican flavors and ingredients from Essex Market.

This series is presented by Loisaida Inc. in partnership with Essex Market, with the collective mission to preserve and pass down culinary heritage from the Lower East Side community. We invite all ages and abilities to join us for these unique, fun, and celebratory cooking classes at Essex Market.

La Cocina de Loisaida was recently featured as part of CBS New York's celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month's local New York CBS celebration.

Senior Day BBQ at 9C Community Garden
