February 28, 2024 - Issue 28

Good evening!

Now beginning our third week of Lent, I trust your Lenten journey is giving you a chance to explore your special God-given gifts. Several of our Panthers have discovered their gifts and are incorporating their skills, time, and acts of kindness in making a difference in our greater community. Please read the Beyond the Panther Classroom below to learn how being supportive outside of a team circle brought joy to others. See how you might keep the ripple going, by joining the Senior Senates' efforts in supporting Period Poverty, found towards the end of the newsletter. Lent is still young, so you have plenty of time to find that gift and put it to good use.

Sunday evening, we welcomed the Class of 2028, at our annual rally. The Coliseum was filled with Panther spirit, as our current students came out to welcome the incoming class with cheers, music, support. Thank you for showing your pride, Panthers, and to the faculty and staff who joined us on a Sunday evening! Thank you to Mrs. Ziegelmeyer for her care and time in working with our new Panther families. We are all quite excited to welcome this class to EC.

Enjoy the rest of the week, Panthers, and keep the ripple going!

Beyond the Panther Classroom

Panthers in the Community

This is a kudos to the Girls Varsity Bowling team! Last week we highlighted and congratulated our Panthers on being the first girls' bowling team in EC history to make districts, this week we recognize them living the pillars of compassion and community.

Mrs. Lester received an email from the mother of a member of Keystone High School's girls bowling team, who made it to districts as an individual. She was in the lane next to our Panthers, and her mom wrote, "Today her lane was next to the Elyria Catholic team and from the second she walked onto the lane this morning your students, coaches, and their parents were nothing but amazing, exceptional, and caring people! They supported her throughout the whole day, from the coach cheering and high fiving her, to the girls team talking to her, high fiving each other, congratulating her, and to the parents cheering her on like she was part of them! We don't hear enough about the good things people do and I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know what an AMAZING team of girls and coaches (parents too) that you truly have! It honestly melted my heart and meant the entire world to my daughter!"

Additionally, our own, Mrs. Karla Espey, Math Teacher, was also at the tournament and remarked, "Keystone had a single bowler that bowled with our girls and they were so kind and made her feel so welcome. They cheered with her like she was a member of their team. If she wasn't wearing a different uniform, no one would know she wasn't a Panther. I am beyond proud of these young women! Just wanted to share how amazing they are."

Thank you Panthers for being present and caring for another member of the greater community. Way to keep the ripple going!

Inside the Panther Classroom

The 5th Beatitude

Seniors Alyssa Rodriguez, Adrian Torres, and Andrew Krupka delivered a creative presentation with the 5th beatitude in Theology Class. They dressed up in costumes (adding some "razz matazz") to drive home the message, by pointing on the facts of solidarity, subsidarity, as well as false mercy. They also acted out the works of mercy and the 7th and 10th commandments which go with the beatitude. Andrew, the Cow- Bellwood, acted out stealing Adrian’s grass showing what not to do.
