Power Seat Elevation Update!

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released their final coding and payment determination for seat elevation systems:

·   CMS has established one code for Complex Rehab (CRT)

·   E2298, “Complex rehabilitative power wheelchair accessory, power seat

elevation system, any type:

·   CMS delayed a decision on K0830 and K0831- the DME MACs would calculate

local fee schedule amounts to pay claims for covered items.

·   The fee schedule amount for E2298 is $2,000.34

·   The new codes and fee schedules will be effective April 1, 2024.

NCART contacted CMS requesting a meeting and access to the data points in the CMS gap-filling process. Utilizing the gap-filling method (legislatively approved) could include some products that are not considered Complex Rehab, or the pricing dating could be misinterpreted. To ensure access for all consumers, it is incumbent that NCART be allowed to view the information. Stay tuned…

NCART IN ACTION

• NCART and our members held a Zoom call with Massachusetts legislators to discuss the warranty repair bill being considered in the legislature. We discussed the bill's issues and how we would like to work with consumers and legislators to develop a bill to speed up consumer repairs and protect NCART members.

• Wayne Grau participated in two webinars to educate NCART members and the industry about the new seat elevation codes and fee schedule effective April 1, 2024. NCART also sent a letter to CMS requesting a meeting to discuss potential access issues due to the inadequate fee schedules in the final determination.

• Wayne participated in an advocacy course for University of Pittsburgh students on the importance of advocacy and the issues NCART members focus on in 2024.

• Wayne attended Medtrade in Dallas to meet with some of our members and to promote NCART's value to CRT manufacturers and suppliers.
