Those of you that have driven by the Club House in the past week will have noticed significant progress made in the removal of the dome. After what seems like forever, the damaged dome membrane has been removed and we're pleased to confirm that metal content and the turf itself will all be recycled and used in other products. The focus of the Club, City and insurer is to avoid as much as possible from entering landfill sites. All of the water has been removed from the playing surface and next week we expect work to start on the removal of the turf. A turf contractor has been retained and will then begin work on leveling the ground.
To keep everyone informed we have created a dedicated page at www.pickeringfc.ca. If you look under our Facilities tab and then 'Build Back Better' you can find:
- Regular video images of progress being made
- FAQ document related to Indoor plans
- City statements on the project and any relevant tenders
As far as our indoor plans go, you our Members have shown fantastic support to the Club with our Recreational numbers almost full in each age group. Plenty of coaches have already stepped up to lead a team and we know this will be another successful Mini-Season #1. Spaces are still open in Mini-Season #2 starting in January and we are even more excited that Mini-Season #3 will kick-off in your new dome!
With our Development (U8-U12) and Competitive (U13-U18) teams we will see the second weekend of open house and tryouts completed this weekend at Kinsmen Park. Last week was a great success and we were excited to see so many returning players and new faces at the field. Don't forget registration is required to tryout and this can be done at the field. Uniform sales and fresh snacks will be available on site again and if you have any questions please check in at the first PFC tent, or just come and say 'Hi'!
