International Alumni Spotlight:

Diana Okechukwu '21

DSU Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation - Exercise Science

Originally from London, United Kingdom, Diana Okechukwu '21 excelled in the classroom and on the football (soccer in American) pitch at Delta State. She graduated summa cum laude with a 3.89 GPA, earned Gulf South Conference (GSC) academic honors, and captained the women's team to its first-ever GSC tournament appearance. Additionally, she was one of the two women's soccer players in DSU history ever to be named to the GSC All-Tournament Team in 2021.

Why did you choose Delta State?

I chose to attend Delta State because of the women's soccer program. I connected well with the team and coaches.

What have you been doing since you graduated from DSU?

After graduating in 2021, I went to Atlanta and obtained a Master of Science degree from Georgia State University, where I was also a graduate assistant for operations and technology. As of 2024, I have moved back to London, where I am working as a Finance Analyst at the Ardonagh Group.

How did DSU prepare you for what you're doing now?

DSU prepared me well by offering a foundation for my growth. I obtained a Bachelor's degree, played as a student-athlete, and developed my discipline through soccer.

What’s a favorite DSU memory?

My favorite memory of DSU is playing soccer; it was the highlight of my time there.
