Name a sidewalk plow
The Town is ready to tackle winter weather by managing snow and ice on the streets and sidewalks. Since we had such a great response to our name the snowplow contest, we are inviting residents to name the six sidewalk plows. Share your fun name ideas with us by emailing communications@georgina.ca. The chosen names will show up on the operations tracker. To learn more about winter operations, visit georgina.ca/snow.

Toys for Tickets
Drivers will get a chance to turn something naughty into something nice this holiday season with the Town’s Toys for Tickets program. It allows people who get a parking ticket between Dec.1 to Dec. 14, for the offence of parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., the option of paying the ticket with a new, unwrapped toy equal to or greater than the amount of the fine.

Winter program registration
Winter program registration opened today for Georgina residents. Non-resident registration (all lessons and programs) opens Dec. 12 at 8:30 a.m. Be sure to check out all the available ski and snowboard lessons, swim lessons and recreation programs you can enjoy this winter. Registration is available online at georgina.ca/recreation and by phone at 905-476-4301.

The MURC is getting closer to completion!
We’re in the home stretch. Work is progressing towards completion of the new Multi-use Recreation Complex as you can see in the new time-lapse video. The paving and much of the landscaping is completed. Many walls and ceilings are in progress or complete, and work has started on the installation of the gymnasium floor. The MURC is on target for turnover to the Town in December 2023, with the public opening targeting Q1 2024.

The Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre is hosting a Holiday Pet Pictures fundraiser at the Link Winter Market on Sunday, Dec. 10. There are two photo packages to choose from for a donation of $15 or $25 with every furry friend receiving a special treat from Santa. Winter weather is here. It is a reminder of our shared role in keeping roads and walkways clear. Winter parking restrictions will be in effect until April 15, meaning no parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.
