2024 Budget

The Town is developing the 2024 Budget and wants to hear from you. Tell us how your tax dollars should be invested by completing our online survey and be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. The survey is open. Residents can also send an email to budget@georgina.ca with comments or questions. 

Hard copies of the survey will be available at the Civic Centre, all three branches of Georgina Public Library and the Link from Sept. 5 to 19. They will also be available at the Farmers’ Market on Sunday, Sept. 10.

  • Sunday, Sept. 10 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Georgina Farmers’ Market   
  • Tuesday, Sept. 12 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Council Chamber at the Civic Centre

Georgina Mayor's Charity Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run

Get your motor running for the Town of Georgina's Mayor's Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run at its new location on Sept. 9, at 9 a.m. The event starts at the Pefferlaw Lion's Hall with coffee and muffins. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Kickstands up at 10 a.m. It ends at the Sutton Legion approximately four hours later with a BBQ. This charity event is benefiting the Sutton Legion Branch #356.

Georgina Fire and Rescue Services is hosting their annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sutton Fire Hall. This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign is – a Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention. Join Georgina Fire for a free BBQ, firefighter demonstrations, a bouncy castle, a variety of community partners and many interactive activities for the entire family.

Animal Shelter Adoption Event

Calling all feline fans and K9 enthusiasts. On Sept. 23, the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre is hosting its 2023 Adoption Open House at the shelter from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for an exciting day as we help our furry friends find their FUR-ever homes and families. Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation Pow Wow

Join the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation at the Sutton High School grounds (20798 Dalton Rd.) for their 2023 Pow Wow happening Sept. 23 and 24. Experience a traditional Pow Wow and discover drumming, dancing, hoop dance demonstrations, and First Nations-owned and operated food and craft vendors. Registration opens at 11 a.m., with the grand entry at noon.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Sept. 30, 2023

The Town of Georgina is holding a ceremonial flag raising at 10 a.m. for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Civic Centre. Flags will also be raised at Ravenshoe Road and Woodbine. Members of Council and Town staff will join members of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation and residents for the ceremonial flag raising. The Town encourages everyone to use this day for meaningful contemplation or participation in events honouring the occasion.

Georgina Public Library National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join Georgina Public Library on Sept. 30, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Keswick branch, as it recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Everyone is welcome to participate in a reading of "Phyllis's Orange Shirt," followed by cultural teachings from Jake Charle of First Nation Cultural Tours. This event is presented in partnership with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation and co-sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Off- road vehicles

Off-road vehicles

The Town of Georgina is looking into allowing off-road vehicles to operate on Town roadways and we want your feedback. A number of municipalities close to Georgina and around Lake Simcoe permit off-road vehicles on their roadways. Take the survey and let us know if you feel off-road vehicles should be allowed or restricted. The survey opens on Monday, Sept. 11 and runs until Sept. 22.

eWaste event

Wondering what to do with your old electronics? The Town is holding a free Electronics eWaste Recycling Event at the back parking lot of the Georgina Ice Palace from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Leave your old electronics with us and we'll recycle them for you, free of charge. Note: batteries and light bulbs will not be accepted.

Bag tag exemption week

Bag tag exemption week is back! For the week of Sept. 11 to 14, residents can put out up to five items without tags. This includes large items such as a couch. It does not include white goods (such as refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, dishwashers) or electronics.

Burn Permit change

Permit applications for agricultural and open-air burn permits are available online. As of Sept. 1, the permit fee is $40 for the calendar year. Residents can have recreational fires to roast marshmallows and hot dogs, and these fires do not require a permit. They must be no larger than 2’ x 2’ and be at least 23’ away from anything that can burn as well as property lines.
