CCTS Methods Development FOA

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) seeks to support the development of novel statistical or analytical methods relevant to translation research. Projects must rely on extant data and should focus on new innovations in methodology, including but not limited to statistical methods, clinical trial design, statistical genetics, approaches to the integration of quantitative and qualitative data analysis (i.e., mixed methods), clinical informatics and bioinformatics approaches.   Applications are due April 25, 2023, at 5PM. Faculty-level investigators at CCTS Partner Network Institutions are eligible for up to $20,000 to advance projects between June 2023 – April 2024.   Learn more.

Oral Cancer Awareness Month

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. With the Alabama Department of Public Health, USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute is leading this statewide initiative! With the third highest mortality rate in the U.S., we ask you to help USA Health MCI to raise awareness about oral and oropharyngeal cancers this month. Over 70% of oropharyngeal cancers are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), so prevention is possible through HPV vaccination!   Join us on APRIL 14, 2023 to promote awareness by wearing burgundy (or red) and sharing your photos and our posts on social media using the hashtag #WATCHYOURMOUTH. Also on that date, keep your eyes on the sky as Mobile and other landmarks around the state light up red for oral cancer awareness!!

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology will be hosting a research symposium on May 10 @ 1:00 PM in the Student Center Terrace Room.
