Being Kind

Brings Joy To Others

With the cooler weather gusting in, the fluffy coats, hats, and gloves are out in full force at Prairie Ridge. It’s fun to watch the adults bundled from head to toe enduring the weather while the kids hardly blink an eye as they run and play. There is an anticipation of sledding, snow forts, and climbing snow piles in the near future. Nothing seems to stop their laughter and joyful spirit.

December is officially here, but you won’t know it once you’re inside the classroom. Our teachers have the magical ability to transport our students to far-away and exciting places into the past and future. From studying about early America to hands-on science labs, our students are actively making connections about how the world used to be and where it will go next.

Lastly, community involvement at Prairie Ridge has once again been fantastic. We had another successful PTO fundraiser this year, and many of those funds will help support the new 6+ acre prairie we are planting on our campus. Kudos to all of you who supported this endeavor.

Our kids are eager to return that kindness as well. Many of our classrooms are voluntarily writing Christmas cards to our veterans and finding other ways to spread kindness and cheer this time of year. It’s vital for our young leaders to feel the positive impact that giving can have, especially this time of year.

From the Prairie Ridge family to yours, we sincerely wish you the happiest of holidays. Thank you for continuing to support your child’s education alongside us.

Trimester 1 Report Cards

Trimester 1 ended on November 24. Report Cards will be uploaded to Skyward Family Access on Monday, December 4, for viewing.

Ways You Can Help Your Child

At Report Card Time

PREPARATION - Talk with your child. Ask, "What do you think your report card will tell us?" Then, let your child tell you if they expect any problems. Even if your child does well in school, they may be nervous about a particular grade. Getting ready is helpful.

POSITIVE ACTION - Think of the report card as a chance to take positive action. Find something to praise attendance, attitude, improvement, etc. Then, focus on areas that can lead to improvement. Ask how you can help.

2023-2024 Snow Day Plan

There is a change to the third-day snow day plan.

  • The first two snow days will be non-instructional days and will not be made up. Students and staff will not report to buildings.
  • Any snow days needed after the second one will be designated as Emergency Virtual Learning Days for students and staff.

The term “emergency virtual learning day” refers to a school day when, instead of coming to a school building, teachers and students communicate online. Please refer to the following guidelines for virtual learning days.
