While we share in the joy that soccer brings us, we should keep in mind the tough situation that others are living through in Ukraine.
Recently the Ukraine National Para Soccer team competed in, and won the International Federation of CP Football (IFCPF)* World Cup held in Spain. An incredible achievement which involved the whole football community coming together to fund raise for the team simply so they could compete.
Pickering FC has been trying to understand how we could do our part to help Ukrainian newcomers as they settle in Durham Region and with some already arriving, we are sharing this local appeal from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) below.
UCC is the umbrella organization for Ukrainian organizations in Canada and the congress has been leading and coordinating efforts since the invasion began. The Durham Region branch is based in Oshawa and ready to accept many household items and donations to assist with this transition.
Pickering FC is offering our Club house as a central point to bring donations during Club hours and members should first visit the following website to confirm the needed items:

*Canada Para Soccer team equaled their best performance placing 9th and prepared for this tournament with final tune up games against our U16 Boys and U18 Girls in April at Kinsmen Turf Field.
