Goodkind and Shook receive new grant
|
Professors Sara Goodkind and Jeff Shook are Co-PIs on a new grant from the University of Pittsburgh Center for Social & Urban Research entitled, Fielding the 'Trust and Disinformation Survey in Allegheny County.'
The $20,000 award will be used to understand sources of disinformation in Allegheny County and Western PA. With Co-Is Beth Schwanke (Pitt Cyber), Lara Putnam (History), and Michael Colaresi (Political Science), they are coordinating the survey work for the team and this grant will provide the funding to pilot and implement a survey in Allegheny County that is intended to be an annual survey focused on sources of information that people rely on in order to build the larger project focused on disinformation.

Building Resilience and Capacity in Vulnerable Communities” conference being held Friday, September 23, 2022 over Zoom. Congratulations to Elizabeth Mansley, MSW student at our Johnstown campus. Elizabeth was recently awarded Volunteer of the Year, 2021 by the Federal Correctional Institute, Loretto for her exemplary service during her Generalist Field Placement.

At this year’s National Health and Human Services Summit, the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) formally recognized its Outstanding Local Members and State Members including MSW alumna Kate Garvey, Director of the Department of Community and Human Services, Alexandria, Virginia. MSW alumnus Sidney Deutsch, born and raised in Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. He was 88 years old. Read more.
