As a grassroots soccer club, we build programs and teams that we feel best serve the needs of our community. As we complete the budget process ready for 2023-2024, a lot of staff and board time goes into assessing current program success, the needs of our membership, and the demands placed on us by our governing bodies.
We always balance the philosophy of the Club as being a soccer hub for our City and the surrounding area with being a sport hub with our Pickering Soccer Centre. Board, Staff and Coaches work hard to build a culture that will ultimately see your children thrive on the field and nurture a love for the game. One of the most significant reasons for that development in club culture has been the leadership of our Director of Soccer Operations, Dave Benning. Doing probably the most challenging role in the Club, Dave has dealt with the good and the bad while being focused on what is right for PFC, whether it's developing our coaches, providing feedback on field conditions, or liaising with leagues and other clubs. PFC has been fortunate to have Dave's leadership here for the past four years and his brand of culture ensured we kept players, coaches and programs active through a pandemic and then a dome collapse - there are few technical leaders that could have thrived in those situations but Dave and his talented team of committed coaches got us through and helped us grow.
It is therefore sad to share with you that Dave will be leaving us at the end of the month. We wish him all the best as he moves on from Pickering FC but we know that he won't be a stranger to the Club and he is always welcome back at the field.
