Celebrations

JROTC

We continue to feature our students and their summertime accomplishments! This past July our Cadets came in 6th out of the 31 finalists for the National Academic Bowl in Washington, DC. It was a great trip, and these Cadets learned a lot and had fun doing it! It's going to be a great year for our JROTC!

Our team was also featured in the Fullerton Observer! We are looking forward to seeing our JROTC participate in community events as well as more competitions!  If you have a student who would like to join our JROTC program, there is still time! Please have them see their counselor.

Football

Opening day was a tough one. Your tribe lost 33-6 against a well-coached San Dimas Saints team. The score was not an indication of how much improvement we had from the young team. We had a ton of first-game mistakes that can be fixed. We now learn and work on our next game versus Whittier High school.

Whitter beat Sonora late in the 4 quarter last week. Our goal is to focus on 1 game at a time. We look forward to fixing our mistakes and bringing back success to Fullerton. Please continue to show support, the game is located at Cal High 7:00pm.

Cheer & Song

The whole cheer and song team performed in the Welcome assembly hosted by ASB last Friday. Cheer showed off new stunts they have worked on all summer and our Song team performed a new routine from summer camp. JV Cheer participated in their first game supporting our freshman football team. Varsity Cheer and Song rallied for our Varsity football team against San Dimas. This Saturday we will be hosting a youth cheer and song clinic for 5 year olds - 8th graders in the gym!

Cross Country

On Saturday, August 20, the team hosted a friendly scrimmage against Santa Fe and La Mirada High Schools.  The race, which was approximately 2.9 miles in length, consisted of 3 laps around the perimeter of our campus.  The girls raced first and all completed the course in under 26 minutes.  The top 3  varsity runners were Morgan McAndrew (18:46), Regan Glidewell (21:47), and Ansal Esquivias (21:58).  The top 3 JV runners were Sofia Tabbal (24:21), Miley Basas (24:37), and Isabella Arrendondo (24:41).  The boys also had an impressive race and placed third through seventh place.  The top 5 times were Alejandro Hernandez (15:52), Nathan Limon (16:15), Troy Fernandez (16:36), Jack Golla (16:56), and Daniel Frausto (17:03).  In the end the girl’s team lost to La Mirada by 7 points and beat Santa Fe 40 to 62.  The boys' team beat both La Mirada and Santa Fe. The team will continue to work hard and prepare for the Fastback Shootout Invitational at Mt. San Antonio College on September 3rd.

Dance

Dance Production started the year off strong with a performance at our Assembly last Friday followed by our first home football game! Our dancers have been working hard over the summer to be ready for this year’s activities as well as our Dance Concert in November. We are excited to perform again at the September 16th Varsity Football home game!

Girls Volleyball

Girls Volleyball had a great week, Varsity went 2-0, beating Samueli Academy 3-0 and Brea Olinda 3-1. Jessica Timmins served 11 straight points during one point against Brea Olinda match, with 7 of those being aces. The JV also went 2-0 and Frosh went 1-0 for the week. Noah Chung, Angela Navarro, and Hailee Nelson are playing phenomenally on the defensive back row, while Zoe Kamizolas and Avery are dominating at the net blocking. The duo of Cassidy Mullens and Havanna Pennington are starting to take control of running the offense with Kaylee Koerth and Emily Finnegan as the primary attackers. All the role players are also coming along strong to contribute to the team's success.

Boys Water Polo

Starting Our season off with Brea high school the Boys JV team won a hard victory 11-10. Unfortunately, our Varsity while keeping the game even thru halftime slowly lost out 18-11 in a very hard-fought match.

Girls Golf

The girls golf team is playing Rosary on Tuesday 8/30 and Notre Dame Academy on Thursday 9/1.  With 6 varsity players returning this season, it should be a great year for our team. This past week we spent time on the newly built putting and chipping area to help improve our short game. The girls team is focused on making improvements to their overall game this season, and we are already making great strides in that direction. We look forward to all that is to come

Girls Tennis

The girls' tennis is off to a great start, defeating La Serna HS 16-2 and El Dorado HS 11-7. Our top two singles, Lillian and Abigail Kelly went undefeated 6-0 respectively and our number one doubles teams, Christina Sfatcu and Rebecca Balarie, also went undefeated for the week 6-0. The rest of the team continues to improve. The JV also had a good week, defeating La Serna HS 17-1 and barely losing to El Dorado HS 8-9.
