If you missed the Congressional District 10 Town Halls presented by UA3 Community First and the Loisaida Center, you can rewatch them on LoisaidaTV. These events gave voters the chance to hear directly from candidates running for the newly redrawn New York Congressional District 10, on their position regarding pressing social, environmental, and civic issues affecting our Asian, Latinx, and Black quality of life in the Lower East Side and Brooklyn.

LMCC Project Narrative Lab

Join us on Wednesday, August 24th from 3-6 pm, as LMCC hosts a FREE project narrative lab at the Loisaida Inc. Center (710 East 9th St, New York, NY 10009).
This lab is for applicants seeking further one-on-one guidance on preparing strong and eligible project narratives for the LMCC 2023 Manhattan Arts Grants. This lab will offer two different opportunities

Work Session: Use this time to work independently on your 2023 Manhattan Arts Grant project narrative and your application. LMCC staff will be available to provide guidance and answer questions as they arise. We highly encourage you to bring your own laptop computers. LMCC will provide laptops to those who need them on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please note we have a limited availability of laptop computers.

One-on-One Consultations: Meet one-on-one with LMCC staff to discuss your 2023 applications in progress. Each meeting is 20 minutes. Meetings are available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.
The deadline for the LMCC 2023 Manhattan Arts Grants applications is Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 at 5pm. Visit LMCC.net/RSVP for info on the grants guidelines and upcoming information sessions.

Lower East Side United Festival
Sunday, August 28th, 12-4 pm

Come out to the 6th Annual Lower East Side United Festival on Sunday, August 28th from 12-4 pm in the P.S. 142 Yard (100 Attorney St, New York, NY 10002). This festival is geared towards providing the community with information, resources, and access to free programs available throughout New York City.
The Loisaida Inc. Center, as well as several other organizations, have partnered with Why Not Care for a back to school giveaway during the festival. They will be giving out 1200 FREE book bags to children for new school semester. A child (5-17) must be present to receive one. While supplies last. First come, first served.
There will also be other offerings at the festival, like free family resources, games & activities, medical screenings, science demonstrations by BioBus, and more!

The Loisaida, Inc. Center continues to provide a platform for contemporary, emerging, and under-recognized artists, cultural producers, and "artivists" working in a variety of disciplines such as: sound/music, theater, film & video, performance art, poetry, dance, visual arts, creative writing, production, prototyping, cultural research, and socially driven art practices.
Each awardee can gain 3 to 6 months of accessible shared workspace and a stipend/honorarium between $500-$2,000 towards their project.

Acacia Network Job Fairs

Acacia Network is hosting two job fairs to recruit committed individuals looking to make a difference in their communities. There is one on Wednesday, August 24th from 10 am - 4 pm at the Belvedere Hotel (319 W 48th St, New York, NY 10036), and another on Thursday, August 25th from 10:00am - 3:30pm (400 E Fordham Rd, Bronx, NY 10458).
Available positions include case managers, housing specialists, maintenance & facilities workers, program directors, recreational specialists, residential aides, shift supervisors, and more. They are hiring on spot!
Applicants must bring two forms of identification, proof of their highest level of education, and proof of their license or certification (if applicable).

NYC Community Needs Assessment 2022

The NYC Department of Youth and Community Development's (DYCD) Community Needs Assessment (CNA) is a stakeholder engagement process through which DYCD collects feedback from community members in Neighborhood Development Areas (NDA) about the programs and services needed in their community.
DYCD and Neighborhood Advisory Boards (NAB) use this feedback to develop program priorities and allocate funds for the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG).
Speak up and let your voice be heard. Don't let someone else determine what services and programs get funded in your neighborhood. Help spread the word and fill out your survey today!

WISH Student-Run Clinic

A team of Weill Cornell doctors and students is operating a FREE Harm Reduction Clinic in the WISH Clinic at the NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital (170 William St, New York, NY 10038). Wound care, fentanyl test strips, and naloxone services are available.
There is no insurance required and they accept walk-in appointments.
They are open every other Tuesday evening from 6–9 pm, starting July 26th.

La Sala de Pepe and the LES Ecology Center are hosting "Lower East Side Food Stories: A Collaborative Mapping Project" on Thursday, August 25th from 4-8 pm at La Sala de Pepe (73 Loisaida Avenue, New York, NY 10009).
Attendees will map the Lower East Side's food-scape, explore the role that food has played in shaping our community, relationships, and local environment, and watch screenings of Last One Standing.

Back to School Event

Join Chase Bank at their Delancey Street Branch (109 Delancey Street, New York, NY 10002) on Wednesday, September 14th from 5:15-6:45 pm for their second back to school event before the new semester!
They will teach students and parents about finances as they transition back to school. The seminar will focus on content for high school students and older, but they will also be providing booklets for younger kids to follow along and talk to their parents about the resources Chase Bank has for kids 6 years and older.
