The Florence Gibbs Momeyer Endowed Lecture was established to advance understanding on timely social work topics in the areas of equity, inclusion, and human rights.

Professors Sara Goodkind and Jeff Shook appeared on “WTAE Listens,” to join their conversation about youth violence prevention and solutions. They also talked about their report Post-Shuman Visioning: Reimagining Safety for Young People and Communities. Watch here.

Harm Reduction training with Prevention Point Pittsburgh


Street Medicine at Pitt is a student-run interdisciplinary organization that strives to bring healthcare and social support to the rough-sleeping and unhoused community in Pittsburgh, PA. They value authentic, relationship-based care through interprofessional teamwork and a lens of health equity. Pitt students, faculty, and staff are welcome to be involved through their educational events, community volunteering, and street medicine rounds. 


They especially would like to invite interested social work students to join their efforts!

You can also complete onboarding and orientation for their street rounds at www.streetmedatpitt.org/orientation. They currently have a wait list for street rounds, but are prioritizing applicants that attend events, assist with general volunteering (i.e. sandwich making to meal prep prior to rounds), and/or from departments with needed representation in their group (social work included!).


Their upcoming event is a Harm Reduction training with Prevention Point Pittsburgh, open to all on Monday February 13th, 2023 from 6-8 PM in Public Health Building Room G23

Fellowship Spotlight: Hartford


The Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education is a unique educational program designed to enhance leadership skills in gerontology. The program is based upon development of specific geriatric competencies across services sectors and with the diverse older adult population. It is offered, with appropriate variation in course work, competencies, and field experience, for both Master’s and Bachelor’s students. Application Deadline: February 15th (BASW) and May 1st (MSW). Read more.
