We mentioned last week that our U11 boys and girls celebrated winning weekends at the Challenge Brossard tournament. Here is a little more about the girls’ experience.
On route to their first Championship, at their first tournament, the Pickering FC U11 Girls won each of their games going 5-0 and outscoring the opposition 22-2. Not only were only two goals scored on the team, but the team did not give up a goal in open play at all! The tournament was full of new experiences for our girls. The team enjoyed playing against new opponents in Longueuil, ULS, Ottawa South and Brossard. The challenge of facing new teams, out of province and with different rules brought out of the best of their competitive spirit. It took only one half for the team to adjust. Despite falling behind in game one the team showed great composure and levelled shortly after half. There was no looking back after that. Along the path to victory family and friends were treated to tight defending, incisive passing and well executed set plays.
It wasn’t all work and no play however. Karaoke night and the hotel pool swimming party will surely be lifelong memories to go along with the joy of receiving a championship medal and lifting a rather large trophy.
CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!
