Treaty of Peace between Great Britain & the United States

This 19-page document, known as the Treaty of Paris, was sealed and signed by the United States’s representatives John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay, and Great Britain’s representative, David Hartley, on 3 September 1783.


The Treaty ended the American Revolution. In it, Great Britain agreed to recognize the independence of the United States and granted it significant western territory.
