Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting Coming on April 21 * |

Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting: Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Breakout sessions will follow for providers in the areas of Youth Development K-5, 6-12, Parenting/Family Strengthening and Partnerships, and will take place from 12-1 p.m. The Provider Meeting will take place virtually. Please ensure that all staff members who are essential to our partnership attend; this includes your executive director/CEO for the morning session, along with the individuals who manage your program for the breakout sessions. READy, Set, Go Miami! Literacy Initiative Going on This Month |
|
The READy, Set, Go Miami! literacy blitz is taking place in March, giving community partners and individuals all across the Miami-Dade County an opportunity to register to become a host site of a READy, Set, Go Miami! workshop. The initiative is a month-long community collaboration coordinated by the Miami-Dade Grade Level Reading Campaign (MDGLR) to 1) promote simple early literacy activities in daily routines at home, and 2) highlight the many early childhood resources in our Miami-Dade community that are available year-round! |

Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.

Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.

Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

New Project-Based Learning Online Course from Project RISE |

Participants learn how Project-Based Learning (PBL) can be used to engage youth by connecting them with real-world experiences, motivating them to solve problems in their communities, and exposing youth to a wide range of career options. When YD staff support & guide youth through PBL, their youth participants will have more opportunities to use creativity, learn meaningful skills, practice problem solving, and become leaders. Join Focus Groups to Share Thoughts on Mental Health Challenges * |
Miami-Dade County residents are encouraged to join a focus group to share their thoughts about mental health and challenges in their communities virtually on Monday, April 4, and Thursday, April 7, or in-person on Wednesday, April 6 at Citrus Health Primary Care, 4125 West 20 Avenue, Hialeah. The focus groups are for individuals 18 years or older and residents of Miami-Dade. Participation is voluntary during the 1-hour sessions. Register below:

Serve on Oral Health Parent Advisory Committee |
Providers, reach out to parents in your network who you think would you like to shape the future of their children's oral health. They can become an advocate for their family by serving on the Florida Institute of Health Innovation's Oral Health Parent Advisory Committee. The institute is seeking parents of Medicaid-enrolled children to join the committee. Members will be expected to attend bi-monthly virtual Zoom meetings, share their oral health experiences, share what services worked both for their families and the community and participate in advocacy with community groups about increasing access to dental care. Schedule Free Mental Health Presentation for Families in Your Organization |
Teach parents/caregivers about mental wellness with a FREE program "Ending the Silence" (ETS) presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Miami-Dade County. ETS is a 60-minute or longer virtual/in-person presentation that increases knowledge about warning signs of mental health issues, diminishes stigma, encourages families to seek help, and provides local and national resources. It is presented in English and Spanish. |

American Rescue Plan Grants Available Through Early Learning Coalition |
The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe is now accepting and processing grant applications for funds available through the American Rescue Plan Act Grants. Grants will be awarded in three equal payments, with the first one within 30 days of application approval and the other two installments at 90-day intervals. The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.
