Open Gym Night & Winter Dance Are This Evening
Open Gym Night for Cape Cod Academy sixth and seventh graders will be held tonight in Founders Hall (the Upper School Gym) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Snacks and water will be provided. Open Gym Nights are fun events that are designed to allow the students a chance to spend time together outside of classes and simply have fun as a community.
 
The Upper School Semi-Formal Dance will take place this evening for students in grades 8-12. The dance will be held in Davis Commons from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. This event is a great deal of fun and gives our students the chance to spend time together in a safe environment. Faculty members will be in attendance as chaperones. The dance is free of charge; guests are allowed to attend but must be registered at the reception desk. 
Ski Trip to Sunapee is Tomorrow

Cape Cod Academy students and families have been invited on a ski trip to Mount Sunapee, graciously arranged by Karen and John Daigle P '25, '27, '29. Registered families are reminded to meet at Cape Cod Academy's Conference Center (Wool Shop) parking lot at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Please pack a lunch and bring warm clothes as it appears it will be cold on Saturday. It looks to be an enjoyable day!

Cape Cod Academy is pleased to announce the date of this year's Spring Gala & Auction: Friday, May 12, 2023. We hope you will join us for an evening of celebration at the Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville.

This all-school fundraiser will feature dinner, music, plus live and silent auctions to benefit Cape Cod Academy. Proceeds from the evening will sustain the academic and leadership initiatives that make the Cape Cod Academy experience so extraordinary. Everyone is welcome, including friends and family outside the Cape Cod Academy community. The evening includes a silent auction, exciting live bidding, and dining all set at the beautiful Oyster Harbors Club.

Upper School Spirit Week Begins on Monday

Upper school students will enjoy their Upper School Spirit Week from Monday, February 27 through Friday, March 3. They will compete against each other in a variety of activities throughout the week. The team with the most points will win a pizza lunch sponsored by the student council and a voucher for the next dress-down day. View the Upper School Spirit Week schedule here.
CCA Gear Available for Purchase for Spirit Weeks

Grab some new CCA gear for Spirit Week! Cape Cod Academy's school store is open from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. next week in Chope Commons. There are jackets, hats, and accessories available for purchase. Venmo accepted!
Lower School Cooking Classes Being Offered

Students in kindergarten to grade 5 are invited to be a part of Captain Cooks, a new afternoon class to be held on Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. for six weeks between March 23 and April 27. Aspiring chefs will enjoy this session of six cooking classes run by Ms. Scott. Each week, she will introduce fun new recipes for our students to make. The cost is $160 for the six weeks (supplies included). To register, click on the link below. (Food allergies should be noted prior to the start of class.)
Lower School Students: Please Pick Up 'Lost and Found' Items Next Week

Missing anything? There will be a 'Lost and Found' pick-up week beginning next Tuesday, February 28 from 8:00 - 3:00 p.m. each day for items found in the lower school. Items will be spread out on tables in Chope Commons during those days. Parents and students are encouraged to stop by to claim any items before Friday, March 3, the last day before spring break. Items not picked up by next Friday will be donated to a local charity.
Registration is Open for Summer Programs

Cape Cod Academy is pleased to announce that registration is now open for a variety of summer programs that will take place on our campus. Science, arts & crafts, coding, cooking, swimming, academic, fitness, and a variety of sports camps are among the offerings. Check out our website for registration and details

Tournament News

Congratulations to our middle school boys' team for winning this season's Cape Cod Super Six Basketball Tournament! Our girls made it to the finals but lost in the CCSS championship game.

Our boys' varsity basketball team and boys' hockey team will qualify for the state tournaments, as well. We are still awaiting news from the MIAA regarding details for tournament participation.
Winter Sports Awards Night is February 28
Our winter sports athletes and their families are invited to join us for the Winter Sports Awards Night on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lower School Gym. We look forward to seeing all our athletes who played the following sports this winter:

The evening requires dress day attire. Dress day attire includes a dress blouse and dress pants, a skirt, a dress, dress slacks, dress shirt, and a tie. Jackets are encouraged though not required. Spring Sports Begin in March

Cape Cod Academy's spring sports season begins in March. Varsity sports will begin March 20, and middle school sports will begin on March 21. Schedules will be available in the coming weeks. This year's offerings include baseball, sailing, boys' lacrosse, girls' lacrosse, and tennis. Fifth-graders are invited to participate in our middle school competitive athletic program. Ice Skating Enjoyed by All

Special thanks to the Parents' Association for organizing an enjoyable skating event last Friday at the Falmouth Ice Arena. Students from the lower, middle, and upper school truly enjoyed their time on the ice with friends. Thank you to everyone who donated socks to St. Joseph's House. They were very grateful for the much-needed donations.
Middle School Spirit Week
Winter Gardening Seminar

Students in the Winter Gardening Seminar learned about house plant care and floral arranging at Flora, a local flower shop this week.
Alumni Share Experiences with Students in Career Exploration Seminar

This week, our tenth-graders in the seminar, Career Exploration, spoke via Zoom with alumnus, Alex Brougham '02, a lawyer at Adelman & Gettleman in Illinois. He spoke about his path from being "undecided" about what he wanted to how he went about finding his current profession as a lawyer who focuses on business bankruptcy, reorganization, and commercial litigation. He shared his path of taking classes, participating in internships, and described his first jobs out of college. He also shared some insights about specialized law professions and the pros and cons of different types of law careers.
