Philosophy Graduate Students Win Top Honors in Competition

A CMU team of five philosophy graduate students scored first-place wins during the Causal Insights for Learning Paths in Education competition. The team, led by advisor Kun Zhang, associate professor of philosophy, used their diverse skills to solve the challenges presented in the competition.

NEH Fellowship Supports Slate's Research on Civil Rights

Nico Slate, professor and head of the Department of History, received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support his research on the Highlander Folk School and the role of education within the civil rights movement.

Nightly Sleep Is Key to Student Success

College is a time of transition for young adults, but this newfound freedom comes with competing interests from academics, social events and even sleep. A new study led by David Creswell, the William S. Dietrich II Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience, evaluated the relationship between sleep and GPA.

CMU, Rales Foundation Announce Initiative To Broaden Access to STEM Education

CMU and the Norman and Ruth Rales Foundation have announced a $150M investment that will be will be open to students pursuing select degrees in the Dietrich College, College of Engineering, Mellon College of Science, School of Computer Science and Neuroscience Institute.
