City Welcomes Mayor Mbengue of Yene, Senegal

The City of Forest Park, along with several elected officials and community leaders from Clayton County, recently welcomed Mayor Mbengue of Yene, Senegal. Located off the west coast of Africa, Yene has been designated as Forest Park's sister city since 2021. The special relationship between the two cities has helped stimulate an environment for both communities to learn and share experiences that further advance our understanding of the world, while also exploring other diverse cultures.

Forest Park Fire Department Flexes Skills During Demo

Personnel from the City of Forest Park's Fire and Emergency Services Department conducted a pressurized container fire control exercise off Hines Ward Pass near Starr Park. The exercise centered around a controlled fire demonstration formed in a propane tank set a blaze by more experienced firefighters.


A cocktail-style fuse was lit to feed the flames in the tank filled with propane provided by the AmeriGas Company. The demonstration was conducted to help ensure that firefighters and fire officers are knowledgeable in the event of a real-life incident. Upcoming Partial Road Closure Announced For Park Avenue

A partial road closure is tentatively scheduled to take place for Park Avenue (between Forest Parkway and Georgia Avenue) from Feb. 13-28, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. The temporary road closure includes both the north and southbound lanes on Park Avenue. During this time, officials will be conducting work inside the Forest Park Recreation Center and moving heavy equipment near the east side of the recreation building where Forest Parkway and Park Avenue intersects.


Detour signs will be installed around the immediate area prior to the duration of the roadway closure to assist with traffic flow. If the roadway closure needs to be extended or additional closures are necessary, another public notice will be issued. Meet-And-Greet Event With New Forest Park High School Principal

City officials had the opportunity to attend a meet-and-greet event for the new principal of Forest Park High School, Dr. Kim A. Dancy, Ed.D. Prior to her appointment as principal, Dr. Dancy served as an assistant principal, as well as a media specialist with Clayton County Public Schools. She earned her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and her master's degree from Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Dancy received her doctorate's degree from the University of West Georgia.
