Black History Month


Pitt School of Social Work is proud to celebrate Black History Month! Watch our social media accounts for profiles of local organizations working to improve the lives of Black Pittsburghers.

Also, Join the Center on Race and Social Problems and other sponsors for a series shedding light on the interconnected, anti-colonial struggles abroad and Black liberations movements in the United States, providing insights into the struggles for human dignity within past and present structures of empire and imperialism. There is also a Black History Month in Johnstown that will be livestreamed for all to access. Author, Cody McDevitt will be discussing Banished from Johnstown: Racist Backlash in Pennsylvania

The Florence Gibbs Momeyer Endowed Lecture was established to advance understanding on timely social work topics in the areas of equity, inclusion, and human rights.

Fellowship Spotlight: Roth Fellowship


Develop a deep understanding of the relationship between behavioral health (mental health, substance use) and physical health while completing your field placement with the largest healthcare provider in the region. 


  • $10,000 stipend for 2nd year or Advanced Standing students
  • $5,000 stipend for first year MSW students
  • $7,500 stipend for BASW students
