Pitt Social Work faculty among Top 100 Contributors to Social Work Journal Scholarship

Recently, the journal Research on Social Work Practice published the article “Who are the Top 100 Contributors to Social Work Journal Scholarship? A Global Study on Career Impact in the Profession” by David Hodge and Patricia Turner. Two faculty from our school are among the top 100: Professor Christina Newhill (#76) and Professor Emeritus Gary Koeske (#90). Read more here.

Ohmer elected to SSWR Board


Associate Professor Mary Ohmer has been elected as “Vice President Elect” on the SSWR Board. Her term starts on February 1st, 2023 and she will serve for 3 years through January 31, 2026. The Vice President-Elect serves a one-year term. The Vice President-Elect will assist the Vice President in the Vice President's role as chair of the Conference Committee. Immediately following the Vice President-Elect's term, the Vice President-Elect shall ascend to the office of Vice President and Chair the Conference Committee. In year three, the Vice President becomes the Past Vice President and assists the current VP with the Conference. 

New CE program addresses racial trauma


The Pitt Social Work Office of Professional Education is excited to announce the launch of their new self-paced intensive professional education program, "Understanding Systemic Racism & Healing Racial Trauma." This course, led by race and trauma experts and featuring a community panel of experts, consists of 25 hours of self-study and is eligible for 24 hours of general Continuing Education (CE) hours as well as 1 hour of suicide prevention CEs.
