Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.
Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Date and time TBD.

Successfully Engaging Youth and Their Families into Services
|
|
Family is critical to a youth’s development and success, and providers can work with families to mobilize sources of support and resilience. In this Training and Implementation Associates (TIA) course, we show why engagement can be challenging, how to avoid blaming families for being resistant, and how to form a healthy working relationship. This online training course is available on Trust Academy and is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Family Strengthening and Family and Neighborhood Support programs.

January Trainings from Project RISE
|
|
Differentiated Literacy Instruction: January 19, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
In this required training, certified teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze to identify struggling readers and develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction. Please register for this training on Trust Academy. Once registered, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and handouts.

Scholarships for Nonprofit Certification Until January 22
|
Sunshine Certificate in Nonprofit Management online begins its 27th year of continuing monthly classes to the Florida nonprofit community. In cooperation with Nova Southeastern University and Broward College, they offer 5 months of 2 classes per month. The class requires a related assignment for each of the 11 classes. When completed, participants will have a boilerplate proposal for their organizations to present to stakeholders. Upon graduation, they will receive the Sunshine Certificate. Apply til Jan. 22.

Aim High Grants to Help Middle Schoolers Prepare for Life
|
Since 2016, the New York Life Foundation has partnered with the Afterschool Alliance to administer the Aim High competitive grant program. The Aim High program is a part of the New York Life Foundation’s ongoing investment in out-of-school time programs to help underserved middle school students become better prepared for high school and beyond. This competitive grant program includes both one- and two-year grant opportunities.
Focus of this year's funding is as follows:
- One-Year Grants: supporting programs’ racial equity and social justice efforts.
- Two-Year Grants: supporting programs in enhancing direct service activities, technical assistance, capacity building, and their efforts in continuing to serve youth while facing the challenges of the pandemic and beyond.
To be eligible you must:
- Be a 501(c)(3). You will be required to verify your EIN as a part of the application.
- Serve middle school youth (6th, 7th, 8th graders). This competitive grant program is targeted to programs serving middle school students in grades 6, 7 and 8.
- Serve a high percentage of low-income youth. Applicants must serve at least 75 percent low-income youth.
Applications are due at 5 p.m. EST, Tuesday, February 1.

Available Mental Health Services for Low-Income Families
|
The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

Community Engagement Manager at The Children's Trust

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents, and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work.

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.
This exempt, salaried position works under general supervision from the director of research. Work performance is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results achieved.

JCS is seeking an Intensive Case Manager (ICM) to provide outreach and coordination of care throughout Miami-Dade County to refugees. ICM will offer refugee services that are available to ensure clients gain skills, knowledge and resources to access medical and mental health services.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health or Marriage and Family preferred. LCSW, LMFT, LMHC license required or License eligible. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Grant Writer *
Jewish Community Services is seeking a Grant Writer who will be responsible for developing grant strategies based upon its capacity, required program support and mission as it relates to the focus of the grantor, family foundations, and contracts with government entities requiring a proposal application.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Social Work, or related field required. Minimum 3-5 years experience in grant writing, editing and communications required.
Temporary Chat Line Counselor *
Jewish Community Services is seeking a temporary Chat Line Counselor to provide information, referrals, crisis counseling as well as suicide intervention to chatters upon completion of a thorough risk assessment and identification of most presenting needs. This is a temporary full-time position.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Human Service field preferred. Two years experience in providing information and referral services preferred.
Resource Specialist *
Jewish Community Services is seeking a Resource Specialist to apply the tools developed in his/her own recovery/experiences as well as the philosophy and values of the Florida Peer Network in order to build connections with Veteran-serving agencies to better develop and manage resource information.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. U.S. veteran of a branch h of the United States Military Forces, including the Coast Guard and National Guard (retired or reservist), required.
Part-Time Clinician *
Jewish Community Services is seeking a part-time clinician to provide direct services to the cross-section of the program’s caseload including children, adolescents, adults and families in the assigned offices and via telehealth. Master’s degree in mental health required. LCSW, LMFT or LMHC Licensure required in the state of Florida; or license eligible. Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience including experience working with clients who have experienced trauma required.
Event Coordinator *
Jewish Community Services is seeking an Event Coordinator to lead the planning and execution of all aspects for in-person and virtual events including but not limited to logistics, budget, data entry, information tracking, quoting, communications drafting, public relations tasks, and administrative duties.
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum two years of relevant event or marketing experience preferred. Experience in social media management a plus.
LGBTQIA+ Health Educator/Outreach Specialist *
JCS is seeking an LGBTQIA+ Health Educator/Outreach Specialist to provide community outreach activities and prevention education workshops focusing on improving health outcomes for LGBTQIA+ adults 55+ years of age.
