Meet the MEAS Team

VP of Engineering, Ekle Small, started with JAX in September of 2014. He joined the company to bring focus on Design/Engineering and provide innovative and energy efficient options to our customers. As head of the department his focus remains on the capabilities and innovative solutions for natural refrigerant products. An active member of the IIAR Standards Committee, Ekle continues to improve upon the teams guidelines, standards and handbooks. Sr. Design Analyst, Lemuel Viacrusis, joined the JAX Family in September of 2011. In search of better opportunities, he landed with the company as a design analyst. His pursuit landed him under the guidance of Ekle Small where he has been welcomed as part of a team and treated as an equal partner working toward a common goal. The focal point remains to be perfecting the teams' ability to design and build small refrigeration package systems. Associate Engineer, Larry Lubyonne, was hired at JAX in January 2019. His chose to work with JAX MEAS to better challenge himself and grow his engineering and refrigeration design abilities. Larry is especially proud of the team's 3D Modeling - Design and Coordination. The ability to offer Ammonia System Packaged Skid Design and CO2 Cascade System Design makes MEAS entirely unique. He, along with the team, continue to develop and fine-tune their Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) drawing standards. This requires researching latest innovations and staying up to date on code changes. The team continues to refine their automating processes to improve efficiency.

Happy 20-year Anniversary!

Frank Everhart, RHVACS Service Manager

When not hard at work, Frank enjoys reading about new technology in his field, doing yard work and surrounding himself with friends & family. Home is where Frank's heart is and he feels most relaxed when he's spending his spare time on his property where he can relax from the daily grind. He enjoys traveling and has explored much of the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. He'd love to visit Australia and New Zealand. Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday because it's a chance to gather with family and friends without all the stress that Christmas can bring. His favorite movie is The 13th Warrior, he loves the Tampa Bay Lightning and his dream car is a Bugatti Chiron. If he could dine with anyone, he'd choose his Grandfather. Frank started working on air conditioning with his uncle when he was 12 or 13 and most enjoyed how grateful people were after their unit was fixed, especially the elderly and infirmed. Though this field is clearly where he should be, given a chance to change professions, he would be a Child Advocate Lawyer. It's been wonderful getting to know you better, Frank, and happy 20 year anniversary!

Employee Spotlight

When not at work, Jason enjoys riding his ATV and spending time with family. Home, for Jason, is in Rochelle, Georgia but he would love to visit Yosemite and Yellowstone National Park. If he could dine with someone dead or alive his Great Grandfather, John, would be his company of choice. His favorite holiday is the Fourth of July, he loves watching any movies by John Hughes, and roots for the Tennessee Volunteers. His Dream Car is a Shelby GT500KR. In a time of desperation, Jason kind of fell into his field but he was instantly hooked! In fact, if he was given the chance to change his profession, he says, "I wouldn’t. There is no other industry like Ammonia Refrigeration!" What a lucky turn of events, indeed. It's been great chatting with you, Jason!

JAX Mechanical hired a new project manager, Billy DiMarzo, specializing in our plumbing department. Billy first started with JAX as an intern and has worked his way through the ranks as an Associate Project Manager, Jr Estimator and as a Project Manager for Refrigeration. A native to NY, this transplant now loves spending his time camping and hitting the beach. He is recently engaged and we look forward to having him as part of the Mechanical/Plumbing team. JAX Mechanical is preparing to start some new projects in Maryland, South Carolina, and Florida. Stay tuned for updates next month!

Our JAX Mechanical Service Department fields the following frequently asked questions on a daily basis: How long should a cooling system last? Life expectancy depends on the amount of cooling run time and how often the system receives preventative maintenance. In some parts of the country, the average residential cooling system’s run time is as much as 2,500 hours per year. Thus, after around 30,000 hours of cooling run time (12 years), your AC system will start to wear out, and you might consider replacement versus repair(s). Proper (and consistent) preventative maintenance extends the life of an AC system. Indoor air quality and system operation? An out-of-warranty system that requires frequent repairs may be more than an expensive nuisance — it could also be unhealthy, even unsafe in some instances. Old dirty indoor coils, dirty burners, and cracked heat exchangers (if you have gas heat) will affect the quality of the air you breathe and will affect proper system operation.   If you think it may be time to replace your system, make an appointment for a system check-up before hot weather comes knocking. By evaluating the current condition of your equipment, we can help make your decision easy. Peirce Florida for quarterly preventive maintenance and re-active service. This was the largest walk in freezer installation for JAX Mechanical Service. With operating temperatures of negative 40F. for 3 large walk in boxes. Lead Technician Brett Comeaux and newly promoted Regional Manager, Jonathon Hood, used their engineering skills to put this one of a kind freezer into operation. Management for Hemarus could not be happier with the results that they asked for us to become their contractor of choice with more projects in the near future. Well done gentlemen! WELCOME ABOARD!

JAXCool just completed a small but very complicated install of an explosion venting system. It consisted of 5” thick mineral wool insulated metal panels by 29’ tall. The system had to be completely engineered and installed exactly as designed to meet the strict guidelines that were given. To make it even more difficult, a pipe bridge was installed prior to the wall panels installation, but with proper planning, the right equipment, and the professional crew, the install was completed without any issues.

Restaurant HVAC Specialty (RHVACS) centers its services on the supply and installation of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning systems and kitchen hood ventilation for restaurants. RHVACS provides economical turnkey designs, and when combined with the full range of industry-related services at JAX Refrigeration, offers comprehensive one-stop service solutions for your entire project. Our Restaurant HVAC Specialty Team wrapped up another Wendy’s in McDonough, GA. RHVACS started this project on 05/24/2021 and this Wendy’s will be turned over to the owner by the end of August 2021.

Advantage JAX Ind is a turnkey engineering procurement and manufacturing department underneath the JAX Refrigeration umbrella and is focused on manufacturing new and existing skid solutions for the power, fuel and gas industries. JAX Ind operates at our 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and carries D1.1 and ASME Section IX welding qualifications. All material and equipment is thoroughly inspected and inventoried upon receipt as it moves through our production/manufacturing facility. As we continue to move toward certification, JAX Ind still operates with inspection and test plans in line with ISO 9001. We perform full QA/QC and FAT prior to shipment to validate acceptance and final approval.

Our Focus JAX Ind is focused on providing integrated skid solutions, with a focus on safety, quality and design efficiency. Our team’s core, from inner management to the fitters and welders in the shop, operates in unity with a similar process flow as ISO compliance, in order to ensure product satisfaction is provided.
