1. Introduction to Sustainable Aviation (90 minutes)

In this tutorial, participants learn about the history and current developments in sustainable aviation. Participants will learn the about the various topics related to sustainable aviation that include noise, alternative fuels (biofuels, synthetic fuels, methane, and hydrogen), and lifecycle environmental impact and analysis. The possible advantages and challenges of each type of alternative fuel and energy will be discussed.

2. Design of Electrified Propulsion Aircraft (90 minutes)

In this tutorial, participants learn about current developments in electrified propulsion, with an emphasis on electric and hybrid electric aircraft. Design examples will include aircraft of various sizes and missions. Powertrain architectures will be examined including pure electric, parallel hybrid, serial hybrid, and combinations with both combustion engines and fuel cells. The top technology challenges will be discussed.a
