MAS Conference Success!

Some of our male students attended Chapman University's "Males Achieving Success" Conference this week! They had a great time hearing from great male role models and attended workshops that focused on higher education, self-awareness, striving for excellence, and many other topics that will help them be more successful! Thank you to our guidance techs who took the boys on this awesome field trip!

Boys Soccer:

Boy’s Soccer had an awesome week with a 4-1 win over Sonora and a 4-0 win over La Habra. Kenneth Flores scored a “Hat Trick” against La Habra. The defense has had 9 shutouts as the team is 11 wins and 2 losses and 2 ties in 15 games. Go Tribe!

Girls Soccer:

Girl’s soccer had a GREAT week with a Sisterhood team dinner followed by a BIG win over Buena Park. The Girl’s worked hard all week in practice and the payoff came with a 2-0 win over an aggressive Buena Park. Go Lady Tribe!

Girls Basketball:

Girl’s basketball started off league with a competitive game against Sunny Hills last Wednesday. It was a back and forth game until the Lancers pulled away in the 4th to win 28-42. They took on the defending Freeway League champions, Sonora. Lady Tribe played hard but lost. They played another tough match Tuesday against La Habra and lost 31-46. Then on Thursday they traveled to Marymount High School and won 38-18. They will look to get their first league win to cap off a busy week at Buena Park Friday night at 7:30pm.

Boys Basketball:

Boys Basketball started Freeway league play on Tuesday 1/4/23 at Sunny Hills. They lost a close game to the Lancers by a score of 44-42. On that Friday they took on Sonora who is a top 10-ranked team in Orange County. The game was back and forth until the Raiders opened it up in the 4th quarter. The tribe fell to Sonora by a score of 64-50. On Tuesday 1/10/23 the tribe fell to the #15 ranked team in Orange County, La Habra, in a hard-fought game by a score of 62-57. Fullerton looks to bounce back Friday 1/13/23 at Buena Park.

Wrestling:

The wrestling program had practice over the break and competition for the boys varsity and girls. First, on Dec. 28 & 29, the boys varsity competed at Sonora HS for an individual tournament. The boys battled in one of the toughest tournaments in the state. Matthew Martinez, Juan Ramirez, and Austin Hulsizer all qualified for day 2. Austin Hulsizer finished on the podium with an 8th place finish. The girls had their individual tournament at Western HS on Jan. 7. The girls wrestled awesome, with a 10th place finish as a team and 5 individual medalists. Leading the way were Briana Izquerido, Amanda Toledo and Janessa Gallardo all taking 5th place, and Chloe Ortiz and Rebeca Garcia placing 6th. On Thursday the wrestlers traveled to La Habra for our third Freeway league dual - JV wrestled great, winning 5 out of 6 matches, but unfortunately lost the dual 30-42 due to giving up more byes at weight classes. They were led by Michael Hernandez, Bryan Gallegos, Chris Osborn, Christian Godinez, and Jaden Pulsifer all getting pins in their matches. The girls got the job done and dominated their dual, winning 51-18 and improving to 2-1 in league. They were led by Chloe Ortiz and Janessa Gallardo getting pins in their matches. The boys varsity ended the night with a very exciting back and forth dual which finished with a score of 33-33, unfortunately, we lost the tie breaker criteria. The boys fall to 1-2 in league. They were led by Emmanuel Hernandez, Landon MacGill, DJ Cobbs, and Austin Hulsizer all getting pins in their matches. The boys varsity will travel to Western HS for an individual tournament on Saturday, Jan 14.
