TITLE IX TRAINING REMINDER

Capital University is committed to ensuring that members of our campus community are free from discrimination based on gender, which is outlined under Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972. Our goal is to reduce the risk of all forms of discrimination by raising awareness about sexual misconduct, dating violence, and stalking.

As a part of our commitment to eliminating sexual discrimination, the University requires all employees and students to complete annual Title IX training, which is online, engaging, and informative. The course provides important information related to identifying and responding to sensitive and difficult situations.

Training must be completed by Wednesday, November 24.

You should have received an email from an @safecolleges.com email address with instructions on how to access and complete the training. If you have questions regarding the training, reporting options, or resources for support, you can reach the Title IX Office via email at titleix@capital.edu.

AUSCHWITZ EXHIBIT CLOSES DECEMBER 11
The fall Schumacher Gallery exhibition, “A Requiem: Tribute to the Spiritual Space at Auschwitz” by Susan May Tell, will close December 11.

This haunting exhibition hosts 17 photographic images without words, titles, or even frames. These images stand as witnesses to the horrific scene that was Auschwitz. Tell explains that her imagery meditates on the idea that “like other sacred grounds that are decaying, Auschwitz today is disappearing and raises questions about whether places of this kind should be restored and the importance of memory and commemoration. Equally important to my artistic vision and is my commitment to Auschwitz as a meditation on decay and memory.”

The gallery also will feature selections from The Schumacher’s Native American Collection in its Showcase Gallery. This exhibit will include selected ceramics, tapestries, and artifacts that add to the rich diversity of the Gallery’s permanent collection.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Schumacher Gallery is located on the
fourth floor of Capital University’s Library in Bexley, Ohio. The gallery is open Monday through
Friday from 12 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

For more information, please call 614-236-6319; email dgentili@capital.edu; or visit the website at schumachergallery.org.

(Please note: The Schumacher will be closed November 24-28 for Thanksgiving.)

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL READY TO HIT THE FLOOR IN FRESH SEASON
The prospect of a full 2021-22 season for the Capital University women's basketball team is surely going to energize the team to return to form as competition begins to return to normal this season. Under the tutelage of longtime head coach Dixie Jeffers in her 36th season at the helm, the team is eager to hit the court and embark on another quality season of Cap women's basketball.

Last Season in a Nutshell
Capital bowed out of the OAC Tournament a year ago in the quarterfinals as they were defeated at Baldwin Wallace. Prior to the postseason, Cap finished the regular season with a 5-5 mark during the disrupted and challenging COVID impacted season.
MEN’S BASKETBALL LOOKING FOR RESURGENCE THIS SEASON
Under the leadership of longtime head coach Damon Goodwin, the Capital University men's basketball team will be aiming to return to their 2019 form that saw them win the OAC and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Coach Goodwin certainly sees the potential in his men this season and the team is primed for more after a challenging campaign last year.

Last Season in a Nutshell
The Comets had a disrupted season during the 2020-21 campaign. Dealing with the uncertainties surrounding the COVID pandemic, Capital finished the abbreviated season with an even 4-4 record, while also missing out the final four games of the season due to COVID protocols.

Despite the disruptions, Capital remained steady on the court as several players competed well all season. Making a statement was newcomer Carter Combs, who finished the year averaging 13.9 points-per-game and claiming OAC Freshman of the Year honors. Additionally, the Cincinnati native earned All-Conference Honorable Mention accolades.

Representing the women’s team were junior Avery Hart and senior Brooke Shutler. On the men’s side, sophomore Jack Francisco and senior Bailey Lach were picked as honorees.
