If you haven’t seen the exhibition There Is a Woman in Every Color: Black Women in Art, please make plans to do so. It opened two weeks ago and will remain on view until January 30, 2022. Featuring more than sixty artworks, it is a must-see exhibition about the visual representation of Black woman and their artistic achievements over the past two centuries. In conjunction with the exhibition, mark your calendars for October 14 and 15 when George Lopez, Bowdoin’s Beckwith Artist-in-Residence, performs a series of piano works by Black women. These concerts are his first at the Museum in almost two years. Also, the Museum will be screening in the Beam Classroom on October 21 Howardena Pindell’s iconic short film “Free, White and 21” (1980). Associate Professor of Africana Studies Judith Casselberry will lead a discussion after the screening. We look forward to seeing you back at the Museum.
