2022-2023 Dietrich Honors Fellows
Five outstanding juniors have been named 2022-2023 Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences Honors Fellows. The students’ work is funded through the Dietrich College Honors Fellowship, an extension of the college’s Senior Honors Program, and gives the fellows a head start on their thesis development.

Department of Modern Languages Launches Online Language Courses
The Department of Modern Languages is proud to announce the launch of its new online language programs for Chinese, French and Spanish. Offered as part of CMU’s Open Learning Initiative, the online courses provide innovative, flexible and affordable options for students, independent learners and instructors looking to enhance their language education.

Drinking Alone Foreshadows Future Alcohol Problems
A new study from Kasey Creswell of the Department of Psychology found that drinking alone during adolescence and young adulthood strongly increases risk for alcohol use disorder (AUD) later in life. This risk is especially high for women. The results of the study are available in the July issue of the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence.
