As the 2022 FIFA World Cup builds towards the start of an exciting knock-out stage this weekend, we too are building the excitement at PFC specifically with the new Pickering Soccer Centre.

The foundation for our new 16,000 square foot multi-sport court has been installed over the course of just four days and through rain and shine. Today saw the completion of the first stage of the pad as crews poured and leveled the base which will be cured and ready for the installation of the sport court surface in late February. City staff and project managers have confirmed the new revolving door unit will be with us in the next 2 weeks and attached before the holiday season. Trees to the west of the office have also been removed in preparation for the second vehicle air lock to be built.

Fabrication of the sport court surface has begun, and the sport lines we will need for pickleball, futsal, volleyball, and basketball are currently in the design stage. To say we are excited to see progress after such a tough year is an understatement. With all that said, we want our members and stakeholders to give some thought to renting space in the new year. We know that pickleball will take the bulk of our hard court time during the week days so this leaves time in the evenings and weekends for other sport programs.

We are currently in the planning stage for this new rental option and interested parties are encouraged to contact Facility Booking Supervisor Lisa Fernandez with their inquiries.
