April 2019

Dear Concordia Alumna/us,

Can you believe it is April already? The last full month of the semester.  Do you remember the feeling you had with just more than a month to go until the end of the school year?  Many of our students are beginning to work on final projects and presentations. And our seniors are beginning to apply for post-graduation jobs. It is a month of hard work and anticipation. This year, it is also a month in which we anticipate Easter and the resurrection of our Lord. As we  observe Lent, let us reflect on God's unending love, the sacrifice Jesus made for us, and what we can do to share loving kindness to others. Take a look at the articles below to see how others have shown their loving kindness.

Students without Bibles are free to take one from the Chapel

In 2016, CUAA used a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for brand new Bibles to be used for worship in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. The new English Standard Version Bibles now match the translation used for the scripture readings and sermons, so we can literally all be "on the same page." That campaign was enormously successful - THANK YOU!

We have students here who are being introduced to Jesus for the first time and developing a personal relationship with their Savior. Our campus ministry team has done a terrific job making all of our students aware that if they do not have a Bible of their own, they are welcome to take one from the Chapel.

Well, here we are three years later, and praise God, we need 100 Bibles to replace the ones that our students have claimed as their own!  Would you help us to reach our goal?  Thank you for this blessing! Check out Pastor Randy Duncan's video, and donate here, or send us a check made out to CUAA and put "Chapel Bibles" in the memo line.

CUAA students build homes and serve communities on Spring Break

During spring break, many of our students forego the fun-in-the-sun trips for service mission trips. Approximately 34 students and staff from Concordia University Ann Arbor recently joined with 25 students from the Mequon campus for spring break mission trips to New Orleans, Louisiana, and San Raymundo, Guatemala.  Pictured left: CUAA student Dayna Schroeder shows her toolbelt at the work site. Start a legacy of support at your alma mater

Support Concordia through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). A DAF is a flexible vehicle for annual charitable giving, allowing you and your loved ones to select Concordia among the ministries and charities that your DAF supports each year. A DAF also provides estate and charitable income tax deductions.

How a donor advised fund works:

1. You make an initial, irrevocable gift of cash or stock to fund a DAF.
2. The assets in your DAF grow tax-free.
3. You make annual recommendations on gifts to be made from your DAF.
4. When you pass away, your children may recommend charitable gifts from your DAF.

To learn more about DAF, contact Jennifer Hackmann at 734.995.7317 or via email at  jennifer.hackmann@cuaa.edu.

2018-19 Academic Theme - More than Conquerors
.... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
