Uri Ashery, Ph.D., professor of Neurobiology and head of the Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University, hosted Randy D. Blakely, Ph.D., professor of Biomedical Science in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and executive director of the FAU Brain Institute on December 10 and 11. The visit is part of a set of reciprocal visits initiated by Dr. Blakely and Anton Post, Ph.D., the associate vice president for Corporate and International Relations to Israel of FAU in October of 2018. In order to learn more about the struggles and successes of FAU students and what FAU can do to help, two surveys will go out to students this spring: Healthy Minds Study (HMS) and National College Health Assessment (NCHA).

Please encourage students to complete these two surveys coming from the President, Provost, and Student Affairs. Consider devoting class or office time for student completion. Survey results will be used to budget and plan student programs and resources to support student mental health and physical health... Read more
Artificial Intelligence's Impact on Neuroscience

Join Michael Smirnov, Ph.D., a neural data scientist at Max Planck Florida Institute , at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, as he talks at the next FAU's Frontiers in Science Public Lecture Series about, "How AI and Machine Learning are Redefining Neuroscience."

Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) partnered with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and FAU High School to build a neural data science program which recruits top-tier students who are immersed into a highly interactive programming, neuroscience, and data science curriculum. These students work closely with MPFI researchers to develop novel science-driven tools which leverage machine learning to help automate and improve analysis, collection, and insight drawn from cutting-edge neuroimaging data unique to our institute.

This event will take place on Friday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. in General Classroom North Room 102 on the Boca Raton Campus. To learn more please visit the  Frontiers In Science webpage.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at   Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present a lecture by Dana Weiss, Israel’s Channel 2 chief political analyst and host of the “Saturday Evening News with Dana Weiss,” Israel’s most watched news program., on Thursday, Jan. 23 at noon.

Gregory Grumbar joined the FAU Brain Institute in 2018 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology and a master’s degree in pharmacology from Georgetown University.
