The Tulare County Employment Report shows no change in the unemployment rate from November 2018 to November 2019, but there was a 1 percent increase in jobs. Additional highlights from the recent report include:
  • Tulare County's unemployment rate was 8.5 percent in November 2019, equal to the year-ago estimate of 8.5 percent.   
     
  • The industry with the largest numerical month-over growth was Retail Trade, while Farm experienced the largest month-over numerical loss in jobs.
     
  • Employment decreased by 300 year over year, and the labor force decreased by 400.

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S EMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME?

    

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported no change in Tulare County's 8.5 percent unemployment rate from November 2018 to November 2019. 

The month over month unemployment rate increased by 0.5 percent, greater than the average October to November increase of 0.2 percent.

HOW MANY JOBS  HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR & THE LAST MONTH?

YEAR OVER YEAR | A COMPARISON
From November 2018 to November 2019, Educational & Health Services showed the greatest numerical gain with an increase of 800 jobs; while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation showed the largest percent gain with an increase of 10 percent. Professional & Business Services saw the greatest numerical decline with a decrease of 400 jobs; while State Government saw the largest percent decline with a loss of 5.9 percent.


 
MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON
From October to November 2019, Retail Trade showed the greatest month-over numerical and percent increases with a gain of 800 jobs and an increase of 4.9%.  Farm showed the largest month-over numerical decline with a loss of 600 jobs; while Federal Government showed the largest month-over percent decline with a loss of 16.7 percent.
