Mayor Meerbott Hosts 2019 State of the Town Address

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Mayor Tim Meerbott hosted his first State of the Town Address at Town Hall. The Mayor highlighted the many ways that the Town Council, Town staff, residents, and community partners work has contributed to the overall success of this community.

During his address, Mayor Meerbott touched up on the Town's greatest accomplishments and initiatives over the last year-such as becoming the second municipality in Florida to reach a Community Rating System Class 4, being awarded the Real Estate Achievers and Leaders (REAL) Awards in the "Municipality, Community or Public Sector" category and becoming the second municipality in Florida to have an Age Friendly Action Plan approved by AARP and the World Health Organization.

Town Manager Represents Cutler Bay At 11th Annual Climate Leadership Summit

Town Manager, Rafael Casals, represented Cutler Bay at the 11th Annual Climate Leadership Summit earlier this month, organized by the Southeast Florida (SEFL) Regional Climate Climate Change Compact. The summit gave an opportunity to the various agencies, businesses and municipalities in attendance to exchange ideas about best practices and solutions regarding climate change.

Some of the topics discussed included resilience, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, climate adaptation, and techno logical innovations. It also provided an opportunity to scout possible federal and state funding sources and grants.

We are proud to be a part of the SEFL Regional Climate Change Compact, a decade-old partnership between Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties, to work collaboratively to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions, implement adaptation strategies, and build climate resilience within our community and across the Southeast Florida region.

After School Program Celebrates Inclusion Week

Our After School Program at Cutler Ridge Park celebrated Inclusive Schools Week at the beginning of this month. Inclusive Schools Week is an annual international event celebrated the first week in December. It's a time designated to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of teachers, administrators, students, and parents in making their schools more inclusive and, thereby, significantly contributing to the development of a more inclusive society.

One of the various projects our students took on t his week was creating a puzzle mosaic-which highlighted the concept that everyone, while being different and unique, has a place in the big picture.

Our Afterschool Program is made possible by The Children's Trust.
