Our Garage Sale is Back!

It's been two years since this unique ministry has taken place. Two years since we've had the honor of serving our community--reaching out to help others find their "treasures". Two years of collecting treasures to donate. Two years for those in the community to see Immanuel in action; serving others with our efforts, kindness, and smiles! Sometimes ministry can take the approach of Christians in action--showing grace. If I learned anything during this pandemic. it was that grace was my word--giving and receiving it when things went right, and when they went wrong.

Yes, we do make money for a needed item that is not in the Immanuel budget [blinds in the gym, new laptop computers for staff, electronic sign in front of the church, new riding lawnmower], but in my humble opinion, the service and grace we show our neighbors is so powerful.

I remember the proud young mom who could purchase back-to-school clothes for her kids [and be proud of what she purchased]. There was the young couple redoing a bathroom on a limited budget who scored new fixtures and decorations. I remember the elderly lady who said she needed to find something to feed her chickens; but by the third visit, I knew all she really wanted was human contact, and a hug!

We have amazing volunteers. They may just want to visit with friends and this is a great way to do it, while providing so much service. So many look forward to this event! It may not be for everyone, but there are may ways to serve: set up the lunch for the workers; be a greeter welcoming our guests, telling them we're glad they are here.

Please remember this annual ministry in your prayers, as hundreds of people will pass through our doors during these three days. We are excited to see new and old friends and neighbors, greet them with smiles and grace, help them find treasures, and show them Immanuel's very best! Each day we will have “Immanuel Specials”. Please come join the fun!
