Groundhog's Day 2021 (VIRTUAL)

Join us virtually on February 2nd at 7:30am for our annual Groundhog's Day Fundraiser!

Woody, Michigan's OFFICIAL groundhog, will make her prediction at 8:00am. Before that, however, we have a lot of fun planned for the whole family! We will start the morning learning about groundhogs before we head behind the behind-the-scenes to see Woody's home and learn about our renovation plans! Then we will hold the big prediction and see if Woody believes there will be more winter ahead of us, or an early spring.

While Woody's habitat meets her health and welfare needs, we believe that Michigan's Official groundhog deserves a home fit for a celebrity! If you agree, please consider making a donation toward her exhibit renovations.

If we raise $10,000 by the end of Groundhog's Day, the Howell Nature Center staff will do a polar plunge into Pleasant Lake on video for you all to enjoy.

GROUNDHOG DAY SNACK CONTEST

We invite families to make their very best Groundhog's Day themed snacks! Whether sweet or savory, the only criteria is that it screams "Groundhog's Day" when you look at it.

Submit a picture of your creation to our Community Engagement and Programs Manager, Lizzy Schultz, at elizabeths@howellnaturecenter.org by Saturday, January 30th to be entered for a chance to win a $50.00 Gift Certificate to the Howell Nature Center!
