Dear Member, Stakeholder, Supporter,
Two years ago tomorrow, March 12th 2020, we were greeted with this directive from Ontario Soccer, 'Ontario Soccer suspends indefinitely all sanctioned soccer activities in the province due to the COVID-19 pandemic'. Sometimes it seems hard to imagine two years disappearing in the blink of an eye, while at other times it feels like the pandemic will never end.
As part of their 'Road to Reopen' plan, the Government of Ontario's further loosening of restrictions announced this week will remove the requirement for masks to be worn in any indoor facility after March 21st. Further, Ontario Soccer have projected all pandemic restrictions to be finished by the end of April.
We know this will be a great year of sport that has already started with the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and will continue into a busy summer of soccer across the City. This includes the relaunch of the League1 Men's and Women's teams under the Pickering FC banner - managed by new license holder E.S & E - and hopefully it will be capped off with our Canada Men's team at the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986.
To keep that momentum going and celebrate our passion for soccer, Pickering FC wants YOU - our membership - whether you're a player, coach, referee, team manager, volunteer, or supporter to share your pictures and experiences throughout the summer season with us. We'd love to see pictures from your games, practice or team social events and here's how you can do it:
