Hopefully, everyone is well rested from entertaining family or traveling to see family last week...funny as we all usually need a vacation from all of the holiday fun!  However, it's back to school for three weeks so let's try to keep the kids on track and focused on getting all of their assignments completed from now until their next break on December 20.  We have a number of events, concerts, basketball games, and holiday celebrations coming up in the next few weeks so please refer to the calendar.  Finally, I have listed a number of student recognitions below for Spelling Bee, Honors Band, and Honors Orchestra.  It's amazing the talents of our students in so many different areas
  !

HUGE CONGRATS to Shiva Palpanoori for winning the Bailey Spelling Bee.  She will participate in the Northwest Zone competition to represent our school.  Additional kudos to Gabby Jumah, our runner-up.  It was a very close competition with some really difficult words that took nine rounds.

Congratulations to Bailey Middle School Band students Adam Jansen, alto saxophone; Cate Meininger, clarinet; Keller Cameron, percussion; Anderson Shelkey, tuba; and Kaitlin Turney, trombone, who were selected for the 2019 CMS Middle School Honors Band! The students performed on November 23, at Northwest School of the Arts under the baton of Mrs. Carrie Lineberger, Guest Clinician.

  FBLA Announcement

Santa's Helpers is a community service partnership between Neighborhood Care Center of Cornelius and the Bailey MS FBLA club to provide food in the form of gift cards to locals in need. Last year we raised $870.00 in gift cards and gifts which helped 25 families.

The Santa's Helpers Teens tree is in the school's front lobby. Santa's Helpers gift tags have been placed on the table beside the tree. The Neighborhood Care Center has requested "Walmart" gift cards only this year. Students wishing to participate must first have their parents complete a permission form allowing them to take a gift tag.

Gift cards should be returned to the front office, attention Dr. Lester, by Thursday December18th.  Thank you in advance for supporting our community service project and for making Christmas a little brighter for local families who otherwise might not have food to eat.
