Calgary and Israel - connected through education and engagement. Jewish Calgary was recently visited by some friends and educators from our partner organization, The Jewish Agency for Israel . Mijal Ben-Dori and Amihai Bannet joined us along with Noa and Itamar, two  Shinshinim  from Toronto. They spent time providing Israel programming for CJA , Akiva Academy , Temple B'nai Tikvah , BBYO , and NCSY . Noa and Itamar spoke about their lives in Israel and played "Shinshinopoly" with our community's students and young adults. If you would like to learn more about our special relationship with The Jewish Agency or hear more about programs they offer, please be in touch with Adam Silver , CEO, Calgary Jewish Federation .
The Holocaust and Human Rights department of Calgary Jewish Federation hosted its Second Biennial Holocaust Education Teachers' Conference on December 14. Approximately 30 educators, speakers, and presenters were in attendance at this informative and meaningful day. Teachers from all over Alberta attended the conference, during which they heard from keynote speaker, Dr. Glen Ryland of Mount Royal University , and presenter, Sylvie Hepner, one of our Second Voices speakers. In addition, teachers attended workshops hosted by two organizations from Toronto: Facing History and Ourselves and Re:Collectionthe Azrieli Foundation's Memoirs program. All agreed it was an excellent professional development opportunity. Special thanks to the Azrieli Foundation for sponsoring this important initiative.
