Recreational and Competitive Outdoor registrations are both live and with more information than ever before, we know you’ll find the answers to most questions on our website.

For Grassroots and Competitive parents, we communicated last week about the overlap in Indoor 2020-2021 and Outdoor 2021 payment plans. We will continue to be transparent with our families.

For Recreational parents and players, we have seen a great start to our registration numbers, a real boost to staff and club moral as we look forward to a wonderful summer season when it’s safe to get our there and scrimmage!
After a long winter break, we are now ready to host our 2020 AGM on March 31st at 7pm. The AGM will present reports on our efforts during the 2019-2020 year and many of the highlights as we navigated a tough year. A special thanks has to go to PFC Secretary Roz Lavoie who has helped coordinate the first ever virtual PFC AGM and to Vice President Ed Whitehead who has worked night and day with our auditors to ensure they have all the information they need to assess our Clubs financial standing thoroughly. Without their effort we would not be hitting this March 31st date.  Details have been sent to all that had registered.

We will welcome guests from Durham Region Soccer Association to oversee the elections of;

President - 2 year term and nominee must be a current Board member
Treasurer - 1 year term and should possess accounting knowledge & experience
Secretary - 2 year term
Director at Large - Full Field Recreational Soccer - 2 year term
Director at Large - Boys' Competitive Soccer - 2 year term
Director at Large - Girls' Competitive Soccer - 1 year term
Director at Large - Special Projects - 2 year term
Yesterday, Ontario Soccer shared an excellent letter with us. The letter outlines the current statistics regarding youth sport and the exposure to our players compared to other environments that they may be exposed to.  As part of that ongoing effort, Ontario Soccer issued the letter to Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, detailing how Soccer in Ontario is a vital platform for restoring Ontario’s health and tabled specific requests to help our sport safely recover and better service our participants this year.
Ontario Soccer and Pickering FC encourage your membership to use the letter and contact our own local MPsMPPsMunicipal Officials and Public Health Units. The letter, which can be found here, may be replicated. It details why soccer is well-positioned for a safe Return to Play this summer and how our communities can be leaders in a holistic solution to dealing with the damaging effects Covid-19 has had on Ontario.

COMPETITIVE & HIGH PERFORMANCE
We want to share with you our plans for a smooth transition from Indoor 2020-2021 into Outdoor 2021. From an Outdoor 2021 perspective;

  • Technical - our coaches are working hard to deliver as much as we can under the current limitations, delivering on as much Indoor content as possible under the circumstances, and then prepare to move outdoor as soon as possible.
  • Administration - we are well ahead on staff screening for the Outdoor season, league entry and player books are quickly getting completed.

From an Indoor 2020-2021 perspective, the remaining component is the balance on each family’s payment plan and assessing the subsequent refund or credit on accounts in good standing. There will be an overlap from the completion of the Indoor payments and the start of the Outdoor payments. The big question around refund/credit amounts is one that we’re getting closer to answering and by late April we will have a clear picture of the Indoor season and our move to the Outdoor season.

For Outdoor 2021, the $100 initial payment is considerably less than our typical first payment and effectively secures your child's spot because of outgoing costs to leagues etc. As we have always stated, we would honour refunds for program components that don’t go ahead. We have planned for a normal outdoor season and at the same time monitor the ongoing situation.
PFC ALL ABILITIES
All Abilities Program Testimonial - Everett
"The program is important to us because we know how much Everett loves it. He is extremely social and active and loves the safe, inclusive environment the program provides him.

I’m not 100% sure what Everett loves most about the program as he can’t verbalized it to us. However, the first day back after lock down Everett ran as soon as his feet hit the pavement getting out of the car. He ran as fast as he could into the building. He was so excited to get on the turf he barely made it through the screening.

I’m not really sure what other inclusive programs are available in our community.

We love the coaches and volunteers. They are very supportive and respectful. The curriculum has been very helpful for Everett. We’ve seen a lot of growth in him through this program and his ability/willingness to participate.

Everett does not participate in the virtual program. He needs hands on interaction.

The indoor program is invaluable to Everett. His need for social connection and physical outlet are strong. With Covid a lot of opportunities to express these needs have been removed. This program has provided a safe place for these needs and keeps our little guy so happy! "
