"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'”
- Jeremiah 29:11

Dear fellow alumni,
Are you ready?
That’s a question full of anticipation.
After months of careful planning and safeguard measures in place, Concordia IS ready, and I’m happy to share that our first two weeks have been a success! Our students are back on campus learning through a combination of face-to-face with social distancing, and online through synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Masks, sanitizer, directional arrows, daily health screenings – CHECK! Even with these rigorous and necessary precautions, our Cardinal spirit is soaring high.
This month’s verse from Jeremiah 29 is a well-loved and often quoted passage. The LORD has declared that He has plans for us. And the plans are good! Are you ready to follow Him? Let’s join together as alumni and lift up this new academic year in prayer as we encourage each other to rely on the LORD’s plans and seek Him with all our heart.
Hearts together in Christ,

Dr. Looker gets a look at your well wishes made into book
|
Last spring, we asked alumni, students, and friends of Concordia to share memories and well-wishes with CUAA's longest tenured professor, Dr. Mark Looker, upon his retirement. Your many kind words were put in a book and shared with Dr. Looker to add to his personal (and impressive) library. Read the notes to Dr. Looker here. You might ask why Dr. Looker is on campus? He's still teaching a class twice a week. For those who know his love for teaching, this is no surprise.

Traditional CIT cancelled
due to COVID-19
|
For the first time since 1975-76, the Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT) has been canceled. In a joint decision made by the presidents of the competing institutions, one of the nation's longest running basketball tournaments will not be taking place in order to diminish as much exposure to COVID-19 as possible. Concordia University, Nebraska, was scheduled to host what would have been the 70th annual CIT on Jan. 29-30, 2021. Instead, Concordia Nebraska will serve as the host in 2022. Recently, we celebrated National Coloring Book Day. In honor of this day, we share with you our very own CUAA coloring sheet. Click here to print it. It was designed and created by Sandy Barrette, a staff member in our Office of Advancement and 2004 alumna of our campus in Wisconsin. So, print it out, pull out your crayons and pencils, and get coloring! Would love to see you post them on our Facebook page.

Thank you for keeping us safe
|
Thank you for helping us keep the Concordia community SAFE and HEALTHY. At the time of this writing, you (our generous donors) have covered the cost of more than 500 masks. Your support in these remarkable uncommon times is greatly appreciated. You can still get a Concordia mask and show your school pride by making a donation here. We are all in this together. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. God bless.

Thoughts from
Campus Pastor Randy Duncan
|
Each morning during the school year, our campus pastor, Randy Duncan, sends out an email full of inspirational thoughts, concepts to ponder, scripture, and prayer requests. We thought we would share some of his thoughts with you each month for us to contemplate. This time, we share an entire prayer.
Prayer: God of heaven and earth, God who carries our lives and the lives of our CUAA community in Your hands, be with us in the journey of this day. Help us to release our anxieties and fears into those same caring hands, knowing in faith that Your will for us is life and everlasting good. Send Your holy angels to watch over us and guard us. May they spread their holy wings to give us shelter against the storm. For You alone, O God, are all good, all life, all love, and that love is for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
