Our Annual Campaign launched on Erev Rosh Hashanah and continues through December 31. This is an integral part of the Temple operating budget. It is thanks to generous donors like you, that we are able continue to provide enriching experiences like Neighborhood Havdalah, Rock Shabbat, Shabarbecue and much more. Every contribution makes an impact and we invite you to get involved in a way that is meaningful to you and your family.

We've got a great variety of classes available for adults wanting to learn more about their Jewish faith and upbringing. Both members and on-members are welcome to attend! Join Rabbi Laurie Matzkin for a Shabbat yoga class combining mindful movement, creative ritual and reflective study. Makom Yoga provides a refreshing mix of Jewish learning (with themes flowing from the weekly parsha, upcoming holidays, and beyond) with guided meditation, breath work and asana practice.

Ladies of Temple Emanu-El, please join Cantor Edmondson and Sisterhood as we celebrate Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan - the new month of Cheshvan. This month is often called
Mar Cheshvan
, meaning "bitter Cheshvan." It's referred to as bitter not just because of the colder weather, but mainly because there are no major holidays that occur during the month. But it doesn't have to be bitter for us. We will gather together for Havdalah - to recognize the separation between Shabbat and the everyday. While we acknowledge those differences, we will simultaneously acknowledge and honor the diversity we claim as Jews in this very special Havdalah service. We'll also have the opportunity to create a special ritual object for our own Havdalah use at home - a spice box. We suggest a donation of $10 for supplies. This special experience will take place at Temple Emanu-El in the BFR on Saturday evening, November 2nd, beginning at 6PM. We thank Sisterhood for providing a light dinner for us this evening, as well.

To start off our first session, we're inviting everyone to join us on a movie outing! We will be going to see the movie
"Golda's Balcony"
at the Saratoga 14 Theaters on November 10th at 8:30pm. The Movie is 88 minutes long with English Subtitles. The cost for group tickets is $11.

A JFS Friendly Visitor is matched up with an isolated senior for a weekly or every other week visit and they form lasting friendships with the senior. Our Friendly Visitors say that they get so much more than they give.

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness - Team Tikvah

This November, Ari, Sherry and Nat will once again take part in the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Network’s Purple Stride walk to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and advocacy. They are sponsoring a team - Team Tikvah - for the walk. They would like to extend an invitation to the Congregation to participate in the event. The walk will be on Saturday, November 2. It is estimated that this cancer causes the second-largest number of deaths in the US yearly. It also dis proportionally affects certain ethnic groups, for example Ashkenazi Jews and African Americans.
