Next Thursday, your Bronco will bring home four documents - Report Card, MAP Report, 2018-2019 EOG Parent Report, and Student Led Conference Reflection.  Please ask your student for these next Thursday after school so they don't get lost in the black hole we call a book bag.  Also, I am still looking for a few parents willing to serve on our Parent Lighthouse Team.  This group will have limited meetings and will be a part of our Lighthouse certification in late March.  Please email Mr. Thomas if interested.

Student Led Conferences
We are starting something new for 2020 with students leading an academic conference with their parents.  Throughout the year, students should be tracking their data each week, as well as, utilizing their agenda to note grades and assignments.  They have also been using an online data tracker that we want them to share with you as a mid-year benchmark check for how they are doing.  Each student will be required to complete the student led conference by Friday, February 14 or before.  The reflection form will need to be completed and signed by the student and parent as verification of completion.  This is a required assignment for all students, but they will receive extra credit upon turning in their reflection form.  However, the main purpose is for students to share their successes so far this year and some goals for improvement.  If you do not have computer access at home, we can accommodate parents in media center before or after school to come in and complete this conference using the student's chromebook.

Security Screenings for Middle Schools
I want to notify you that safety screenings in CMS middle schools will begin in February, while they continue to conduct high school screenings.  Schools will always be selected at random.  CMS' safety screening process includes students being moved to a location outside the classroom to proceed through a metal detector.  During this time, the drug detection K9 and firearm detection K9 are brought into the classroom by their handlers to screen the students' belongings.  A team of CMS Security Associates, CMS Police Department K9 handlers and the CMSPD Chief conduct and oversee each screening, with assistance from myself and other building administrators.  Families will be notified via ConnectEd messages when a safety screening begins and when it is completed. Two important notes: schools are selected at random but individual students are never identified for screening.  In addition, the K9s are never in contact with students. The students are removed to a separate location while the dogs and their handlers conduct their screening.

  School Store Volunteers Needed

International Night

International Night
Bailey Middle School's annual "International Night" is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 20th. This annual event showcases and celebrates the diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the families at our school. This event is a great way to introduce Bailey students and their families to customs and traditions from all over the world. Every year the event gets bigger and better!

We are looking for parents and students to volunteer as ambassadors for their country/region by decorating a booth, dressing in traditional clothing, and sharing art, food, music, games, etc. Bailey will provide the tables for the booths.
As an incentive to volunteer, students that participate with their families by setting up a booth will receive extra credit (bonus points) in their choice of subject. Students that attend the event and get their passport stamped will receive extra credit in Social Studies.

Contact  Karey Sweetman for more information and to sign up for a booth,   click here.
