Teal Mini Swap 2020!

Designed by Beth Helfter, EvaPaige Quilt Designs, Teal Mini Swap is an annual event intended to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, funds for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, and give quilters and sewists a fun little swap.

Participants each recieve a 9" x 9" piece of the Connecting Threads fabric shown (Swirls Teal), which is to be used in their mini quilt, along with information about their swap partner if a partner was requested. Minis are to be completed during the month of September and mailed to partners no later than September 30. 

Participants have a choice of making either a mini quilt (18" square maximum) or a mug rug (10" square maximum). Be sure to check your preference on the registration! 

The cost to participate is $15 for US registrants, and $18 for Canadian residents, of which $10 per participant will be donated directly to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. The remaining funds will be used to offset supplies and shipping costs, as well as the administrative costs of many manhours to pair up to 250 partnerships, stuff envelopes, cut fabric, etc.

Event timeline:

• July 23 - August 9 (or 500 participants, whichever comes first) - Registration open
• July 26 - August 9 Behind the scenes envelope stuffing and mailing of packets to participants
• August 26 - Swap gifts to be mailed NO EARLY THAN date
• Through September 30 - Celebrate Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month by creating a mug rug for your swap partner and mail it by the September 30 deadline.

The fine print: Unfortunately, there are some caveats to participation.

• This swap is limited to US and Canada addresses, and swap partners will only be assigned within the same country.
• Registering means you are committing to making a mini for a swap partner within the month of September and mailing it to them by September 30. Please check your calendars and make sure that this is possible for you before signing up. We don't want disappointed swap partners! 
• Partners are matched based on fabric and color preferences, if given, and NOT on sewing experience. All levels are welcome, and all we ever ask is that participants do their best work in the name of fighting a horrible disease.
