Dietrich College Graduates Forge Forward
Graduates of Carnegie Mellon University’s Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences leave the university with more than just a diploma — they carry with them new possibilities and opportunities as they embark on their separate paths.

Ritivoi Reappointed Head of CMU’s Department of English
Carnegie Mellon University has reappointed Andreea Deciu Ritivoi head of the Department of English. English has been an academic program since the early days of Carnegie Tech and recently marked its 100th anniversary. The department offers programs in professional, technical and creative writing as well as rhetoric and literary and cultural studies.
Professional sports are crafting strategies to deal with the absence of crowd noise during sporting events. "It's easy to overlook the importance of the auditory experience with something like a sporting event," said Laurie Heller, a professor of psychology at the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. "You don't think about the crowd noise until it isn't there."
Project Courses Provide Key Skills, Faculty Engagement
In a bold experiment, more than 30 Experiential Learning Project courses are serving nearly 450 graduate and undergraduate Carnegie Mellon University students this summer.

He will provide an update on how COVID-19 will impact the fall semester, and he will share initiatives that are being implemented to help meet Dietrich’s goals in diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
